GENESSIA PROM!

I - SETUP (12:00pm-5:00pm)

For any and all who agreed to help with the decorations, this would be the time to gather at the Hotel. A large list of assignments will be posted on the wall near the entrance, with duties including but not limited to:

1. Setting Tables, including placement of centerpieces
2. Wall and ceiling decorations, involving a lot of gossamer drapery and lights
3. Preparing the buffet table, with a mixture of hot and cold foods, as well as a separate table at the end for delectable deserts
4. Getting all necessary equipment on stage for the Live Band to perform. Sound Checks may occur throughout.
5. A side dressing room area set up exclusively for those who volunteered to take the time to get ready themselves, including special hair and makeup stations and a large rack to hang their dresses & shoes to change into later

II - HOTEL LOBBY (6:30pm onward)

Cozy and luxurious in its own right, those who arrive before Prom is scheduled to begin will be allowed to lounge in the Hotel Lobby for a spell. Meeting and greeting other early birds and partaking in a select few hors d'oeuvre made available while waiting for the doors to open

III. - PROM PHOTOS!

In the far corner of the lobby, a cute backdrop will be set up, ready for any and all couples/groups/brave souls going stag for the evening to take a memorable photograph! Selfies are welcome throughout, but for those desiring a more professional setup, Hikari Yagami will be on hand for the first and last hours of the night for "official" Prom Photos.

IV - EATING/DRINKING

With a "bar" consisting of 90% nonalcoholic beverages--the remaining ten percent reserved for of age chaperones--and a buffet table spanning the length of the side wall, there will be no shortage of food options that night! Hot pasta dishes, cold sandwiches, fruits, vegetable platters, and a special end section devoted to some of the best sweets Genessia's bakeries have to offer!

Of course, what prom would be complete without the traditional Fruit Bowl Punch? Better get a sip in early, though...because some traditions never die, and it's not like those in charge can keep an eye on that bowl the entire night, can they?

V. - DANCE FLOOR

With a live band (Thank you, Professor!) ready to rock, you'll soon be dancing the night away, under ethereal decorations that will really make you feel like you're dancing among the stars!

In between sets, there will be a DJ spinning a mixture of slow dances, crowd favorites, and songs that'll really get the party rockin' (~~LMFAO style~~).

VI. - CHAPERONES

Because somebody's got to make sure the kids behave.

Hopefully actual adults who can behave themselves.

VII. - MINGLING/MISC.

What other shenanigans could the teens and tweens of Genessia possible get up to? The night is young, and so are they~

Anything about you being a lovely young woman, for a start. Satsuki established her boundaries very clearly.

[He sighs, and finds a railing to lean against]

I like you more than I probably should. Even knowing you're older than you look, there are connotations to that sort of thing - and where I came from, they can get you thrown in jail, or worse, if you even hint at acting on them. There are artists - we called them doujinshi, in Japan - who draw and write that particular genre, and they always claim that the characters are in fact older than they appear. This entire scenario is almost identical to one of those stories. Satsuki almost certainly realizes this, and knows that I do as well.

I like you too, Soma. If only there was a way to fix me... But there isn't. I have to fulfill my purpose if I want the Divines to relinquish their claim on me.

[Deciding it for the best, she creates just a little extra space between them.]

It's not that I don't want to know what it's like to be a child. I want to, but I don't want to be this way forever.

Maybe it's for the best if we just stopped meeting.

[He tenses at a burst of pain just at the thought. After everything they've been through here, just to be friends? No. No, he can't let it end like that.]

I'd rather we don't do that. I'm not sure about many things, Anya, but I know my world would be a darker place without you in it. If friendship is all we can ever have, then so be it. But I'll not be the one to toss that way because I can't have something more.

But... Being friends with me is wrong... It just makes so much sense now. Being friends with me is wrong because those connotations. The reason why no one will talk to me, or help me, or be my friend... It's simply because it's just wrong.

[Anastasia shields with eyes with a hand, and an arm across herself. She didn't want him to see that the dam holding back her sadness was beginning to break.]

Anya. Look at me.

[He's going to make that a command, giving it the kind of tone that one doesn't usually ignore; it's probably the first time she's ever heard him talk like that.]

There is nothing wrong with being friends with you. Anyone who chooses to see the kind of things I was talking about in a simple friendship is projecting their own insecurities. The problem isn't you. Please, accept that. I know there are people here willing to be friends with you, because I've met some of them. Marc wants to have us both over for dinner one night soon. Satsuki is strict because she cares for you. There's also Remilia, and ... I don't know, several others. And me, if you'll still have me.

[She is listening, but the dam is still fractured and she's doing all she can to keep it held back.]

Then what am I supposed to do?

I realize this is a bit hypocritical coming from me, but... Just keep on being yourself. Don't try to change who you are to make people like you, because it won't change their minds and it WILL hurt you. Trust the friends you do have. And... ah, hell with it.

[He's going to gather her into a hug now. Just a hug, because that's what friends DO when the people they care for are hurting.]

[For Soma to come in unexpected like that startled Anastasia. A step back wasn't enough to escape something that could hurt. But it doesn't.

She is cold to the touch, naturally so and always. Anything that's warm has a calming effect on her. Warm foods, a blanket, safe distance from fires, and even hugs. Though she protested at first, the hug eventually soothed her enough to give up and let him hug her.]

Dieu maudit cette vie...

Mina deja este. I'm beginning to wonder why I keep trying to please everyone else, when my soul is already doomed.

[Screw propriety. He's going to keep on hugging her.]

[He still holds on to her, despite it being apparently wrong for nyone to talk to her, much less befriend her. God forbid to even hug. Anastasia can't fathom why he would do this.

The tears were beginning to shed as she glanced up at him.]

W-what do you mean?

Anya, I've told you who and what I am. I may not have been the one to do it, but my soul is still steeped in the blood of thousands - maybe millions. But even discounting that - do you think any version of Heaven is going to let a man in who holds dominion over a thousand demons?

[He could almost laugh at the irony. The very tools he uses to fight against the dark are what might drag him down to join it. And no, that hug still isn't stopping.]

Butt you didn't ask for that to happen. You're not a demon! You're not evil...

[His attempts to comfort her just proves it, and she remains helpless in the hug. But why are her tears still coming?]

Anya. Listen to me. This is important.

I don't care about any of that anymore. All I care about is my very dear friend, who is currently in pain. And I will do anything it takes to make that pain go away. Even if it means that every god and person in the multiverse damns me.

[He places a chaste kiss on the top of her head, and then steps back to kneel in front of her.]

If caring for you makes me a demon, then so be it.

[And that was it. This whole time, she was in pain. A pain of loneliness that she denied for so long. She believed that if she were being dragged away by villains in front of people who can help, they would choose not to. To constantly try to reach out to be friends, only to be largely ignored. But not only this, but seeing the fall of her country, forced to fight and experiencing death and threats at any giving moment prior to Genessia. She is in a great deal of pain, but now she can't deny that pain anymore. And All it took was for Soma to tell her and care about her.

That bottle holding her pain didn't just lose its cap. It broke entirely. Anastasia broke down in soft, agonizing sobs and whimpers, covering her face in her hands as those tears freely fall.]

[He gently pulls her to him, though his head is slightly lower than hers now, and hugs her again. And this time, he really isn't letting go.]

Let it go, Anya. You've been holding this in for too long now. Just let it go.

[She's probably going to ruin his rented tux with those tears, but screw it, he doesn't care anymore.]

[And she would give up and let it go, sobbing and gasping just a little bit harder when she counts in her mind all the things that cause her pain, until the pain itself began to speak through her.]

Maman... Papa... Ma maison... Ma paix... Tout est parti!
(Translation: "Mom... Dad... My home... My peace... Everything is gone!)

[His hug gets a little tighter with every part of that. Each pain a mirror for the ones he himself has experienced.]

I can no more raise the dead than any other man, Anya, but I swear that you will not lose me. If you would still have me as a friend, or as anything... I am here.

[After a few minutes, which felt like several painful hours, she finally runs out of tears to shed. Her body still shakes, and still sniffling, but she was finally calming down. Though she is too shy to look at him, or anyone, directly right now.

Worst of all. She has nothing to dry her eyes. How embarrassing.]

[Sartorial style to the rescue! Soma offers her a handkerchief, taken from his vest pocket. The only other option - kissing the tears away - seems like it could be a bit creepy, at this point.]

We've both got a few things to work through, it seems - but I'll help you, if you'll help me. Deal?

[Anastasia accepts the handkerchief gently and proceeds to dry her leftover tears.]

D-deal...
Wait...w-what d-do we need to work through...?

All the pain we've both been repressing, for a start. But for tonight... would you like to dance? Not in there, but out here, maybe?

[Or someplace else entirely. Soma's not picky, and they could do with some time away from prying eyes.]

[Anastasia glanced back to the party hall, then back to Soma. She forgot where she was for a moment, it now wonders what's wrong in there.

Well, too many people. Hard to speak to each other. Might bump into people. She wonders if she should accept, but... Screw propriety. She nods and holds out her hand for him to take her away.

And hopefully she'll still be home by eleven.]

[She will be. Soma'll take her hand, and lead her off toward... actually it looks like he's heading for the pool.]

I have something I want to show you, and I think you'll enjoy it.

[No further explanation, at least til they actually reach the pool. There he lets go of her hand, and... takes a step as if he means to fall into the pool.

Except he doesn't fall. He takes another step, and it's quickly clear that he's not sinking. He's... actually standing. Walking, in fact. On the water's surface. He makes a full lap of the pool just to show that it isn't a trick, then finally steps back onto the deck in front of her, taking his old smart phone from home out of his pocket as he does.]

Would you care to dance, m'lady?

[That was indeed an impressive thing to behold. But she doesn't understand why he showed her that.

At the offer to dance, she smiled and dipped into curtsy, giving him her hand as she does so.]

I would love that.

[He sets his phone up to play a song, and leads her into a dance to fit it.

It may or may not take her a minute to figure out what's going on, since he's leading her out onto the water.

Of course, the flaming blush he's got going may be sufficient distraction.]
