GENESSIA PROM!
For any and all who agreed to help with the decorations, this would be the time to gather at the Hotel. A large list of assignments will be posted on the wall near the entrance, with duties including but not limited to:
1. Setting Tables, including placement of centerpieces
2. Wall and ceiling decorations, involving a lot of gossamer drapery and lights
3. Preparing the buffet table, with a mixture of hot and cold foods, as well as a separate table at the end for delectable deserts
4. Getting all necessary equipment on stage for the Live Band to perform. Sound Checks may occur throughout.
5. A side dressing room area set up exclusively for those who volunteered to take the time to get ready themselves, including special hair and makeup stations and a large rack to hang their dresses & shoes to change into later

II - HOTEL LOBBY (6:30pm onward)

Cozy and luxurious in its own right, those who arrive before Prom is scheduled to begin will be allowed to lounge in the Hotel Lobby for a spell. Meeting and greeting other early birds and partaking in a select few hors d'oeuvre made available while waiting for the doors to open
III. - PROM PHOTOS!

In the far corner of the lobby, a cute backdrop will be set up, ready for any and all couples/groups/brave souls going stag for the evening to take a memorable photograph! Selfies are welcome throughout, but for those desiring a more professional setup, Hikari Yagami will be on hand for the first and last hours of the night for "official" Prom Photos.
Smile, everyone!
IV - EATING/DRINKING

With a "bar" consisting of 90% nonalcoholic beverages--the remaining ten percent reserved for of age chaperones--and a buffet table spanning the length of the side wall, there will be no shortage of food options that night! Hot pasta dishes, cold sandwiches, fruits, vegetable platters, and a special end section devoted to some of the best sweets Genessia's bakeries have to offer!
Of course, what prom would be complete without the traditional Fruit Bowl Punch? Better get a sip in early, though...because some traditions never die, and it's not like those in charge can keep an eye on that bowl the entire night, can they?
V. - DANCE FLOOR

With a live band (Thank you, Professor!) ready to rock, you'll soon be dancing the night away, under ethereal decorations that will really make you feel like you're dancing among the stars!
In between sets, there will be a DJ spinning a mixture of slow dances, crowd favorites, and songs that'll really get the party rockin' (
VI. - CHAPERONES

Because somebody's got to make sure the kids behave.
Hopefully actual adults who can behave themselves.
VII. - MINGLING/MISC.
What other shenanigans could the teens and tweens of Genessia possible get up to? The night is young, and so are they~

II. Lobby
[Though she doesn't have a date, Ann hasn't arrived solo - rather, she's arranged to arrive with her friends from home, though she's aware Futaba at least may be meeting up with her date first.
That isn't to say she's planning to shun all other company, of course. But it's her close friends that are with her when she steps through into the lobby, and she can't help but pause in her stride as she takes in the grandeur of the place. It almost reminds her of the Phantom Thieves' very first celebration, though she feels a lot less out of place this time.]
Well, I guess I didn't have to worry about feeling over-dressed. This place is amazing.
III. Photos
[For the most part, Ann's been trying not to pay too much attention to her phone - but she can't resist checking out the photo area and snapping some selfies with the backdrop in view. Selfies she will attempt to drag her friends into, because she's not sure formal photos are a true reflection of who they are.
Which isn't to say she's opposed to taking some proper photos as well, if only because it's something to add to her portfolio and that can be no bad thing. She's at home in front of the camera, but only because she wants to be.
Anyone trying to sneak photos of her while she's posing for the official photographer will earn a glare and possibly a sharp word or three if they don't catch the hint.]
IV - Food and Drink
[At least to begin with, Ann tries to remember that she should be showing a degree of restraint in her food choices - healthy, and with as little mess as possible so she doesn't get anything on her dress. She needs to keep her energy up, but that doesn't mean she wants to look a mess while she does so.
Of course, this being Ann, she can't ignore the sweets table forever. And so there she can be found, plate in hand and an almost overwhelmed expression on her face.]
They all look so good. How do I even pick?
[For anyone who catches her after that little 'problem', her answer appears to be to cram as many of the smaller ones onto her plate as she can. She can always dance it off, and as the night wears on she's less worried about keeping her appearance completely perfect.]
V. Dance Floor
[While the band's playing, Ann spends more of her time watching than dancing. Not because she isn't enjoying, but she thinks it's more respectful to pay attention to the people who are giving up their time to entertain them.
Outside of that, she makes sure she dances with all of her friends at least once, if she's not just gathering them around her for a circle of dancing that may or may not see her slipping off her shoes because they're designed for looks over practicality.
That's not to say there aren't times where she can't be caught in a position for strangers to offer her a dance - though she'll make sure she isn't anywhere she can't spot if any trouble's brewing for her friends.]
VII. Wildcard
[Got something else in mind that doesn't quite fit any of the above? Go for it!]
V.
For all that she comes across and joyous and carefree Era is still on constant guard. Those who pay attention might note that she prefers to linger near entrances and exits, and dance in spots that afford her rather short stature a broad enough view of the venue that Era doesn't feel cut off.
It's the red dress that catches her attention first, for she has a fondness for the colour despite her recent penchant toward wearing blues. The dress is enough of a draw that Era decides to offer the young woman her hand in askance for a dance. It's her left hand, notably adorned with both an engagement and a wedding ring. The heels she wears brings her closer to the girl's height, yet she still doesn't quite reach five foot in them. It's made for some admittedly very interesting dances. ]
Would you like to dance, miss?
no subject
Which means she can't help but notice the slightly unusual traits that mark her as something other than human. It's not something Ann's intending to let bother her, though it does spark a degree of curiosity because before she got here, the only non-human entities she'd had much experience of were Shadows and Personas.
Still, it's not something she's focusing on too much. Between the several friends she has here to keep an eye on, Ann doesn't even really notice she's being approached until she hears someone talking to her. And then has to look down because while she's not incredibly tall, she still stands at five foot six before heels which are adding a further few inches. She's not even really sure how this is going to work but she's willing to try, because this is supposed to be fun and from what she can tell her friends are all faring okay for now.]
Sure, okay. Oh, um, I'm Ann by the way.
[She figures she should probably offer at least that much.]
no subject
With a husband two feet taller than her, and most of her dearest friends over six feet, she is quite accustomed to some challenges with height during dance. It's more notable in ballroom, but just fun, casual dances where you move to the beat of the music in tandem it's less so.
Because she is missing Aymeric especially badly tonight she uses what her name should be now - if she was there for her wedding ceremony a fortnight ago, rather than in Genessia: ]
I'm Era Ra de Borel. Though just Era is fine. [ She smiles, leading Ann out to the dance floor. ] It's nice to meet you, Ann. Your dress is lovely.
no subject
[Ann follows as Era heads out onto the dance floor, trying to find a space for them that isn't too crowded. The compliment on her dress earns a smile that's all the more genuine for it focusing on what she's wearing and not on her.
A subtle distinction. But one Ann has come to appreciate all the same.]
Thank you. Yours is really pretty too. I guess it's nice to have an occasion to really make an effort for, right?
[Because it's only really for work or for special occasions that Ann would get this dressed up.]
no subject
Thank you. It has been nice to have reason to dress a bit less practically. [ She says, yet her dress is still short enough to be practical, and though she wears heels they're obviously comfortable and sturdy.
Admittedly Era didn't put much effort in beyond making her dress. Her hair is a bit fly-away wavy, and she hasn't used any makeup to cover her freckles. Just minimal accents to her eyes and lips. Seeing the other girls and women at the prom with more complex and complete makeup is interesting. If Aymeric were here it might make her feel inadequate, but since he isn't it just gives her inspiration to try some new things on her own later. ]
More recently I have begun wearing such things without any reason save for wanting to. [ That does bring to mind a good question, however. ] Do you know if events like this common in Genessia?
no subject
[Never mind that getting dressed up like this is more effort than Ann tends to be willing to spare for anything beyond a special occasion or work. For day to day wear, she prefers to keep a little more casual - but then she supposes that's what makes it so nice to get dressed up, that it isn't her usual style.
Same reason she has her hair down, really. Something different, but without being too fussy.
When it comes to dancing, Ann's not used to doing any sort of leading and a little of it shows in how she hesitates as Era waits. Formal dancing isn't something she'd ever really done but if she notices Era relaxing into something more informal then she'll be quick to follow suit. Easier to talk that way, too, when she's not trying to concentrate on what her feet are doing.]
I'm honestly not sure. This is the first one I've been here for but I haven't been here all that long, at least compared to most of my friends. I'm guessing it isn't something that's super common, though.
[If only because of how involved she'd been in helping people find clothes for the event where she might have expected them to be more prepared if this happened more often. Although...]
Then again, maybe they do happen more often and my friends just didn't go. We've never really talked about it either way so I'm not sure.
no subject
The song that plays is not too fast-paced, but nothing slow enough for a more formal dance. It has a medium tempo and a good beat; easy for Era to flow with, though it does make it hard for her to keep her tail from swaying too wide with each pulse of rhythm. ]
How long have you been here? This event was announced a few days after my own arrival.

dance floor...??
still, he felt he had to go, for mimi at least.
ryuji had rented a regular black suit, with a red tie, and he looked rather dashing in his outfit. he walked up to ann, reuniting with her, and he glanced over at her as he talked.]
Man, I keep barely recognizing you with your hair down. You should do it more, it looks real good. [a compliment!]
no subject
She's just heading away from the dance floor to take a break when Ryuji joins her - and she's still a little taken aback by just how polished he looks, even as she'd seen him plenty throughout the night - but then apparently she's not the only one getting used to seeing a friend with a very different look.]
Um, thanks. I guess it's just easier to keep it out of my way most of the time. So it makes it more special, I guess?
[Which is why she'd ultimately decided against an updo. That, and there had been a lot less fuss involved which tended to suit her well.]
The night seems to be going really well, huh? It feels really fancy but I don't feel awkward at all.
[And that beats any of the fancy places they've been to so far.]
no subject
he has his hands in his pockets now as he stares out at everyone else on the dance floor.]
It's probs because us kids are all here. It's fancy but not like.. adult fancy, y'know?
[ryuji seems to be lower energy than usual, which was understandable. he had come to this because he felt obligated to.]
Do you know how to dance?
no subject
[If she does say so herself, they both look smart enough that they could blend in better this time. Really, she supposes they were a little too casual back then, which probably hadn't helped their case any.
She notices how low Ryuji seems and she isn't surprised, which is why she takes up the chance for distraction.]
Not properly, but I think we can figure it out between us. A lot of people seem to be doing their own thing anyway.
[Which paves the way for them to do the same. And as encouragement, she'll give him a nudge as she heads for the dance floor, glancing back to see that he follows her.]
no subject
[he glances over at her suddenly, blinking. did she want to dance?! and right when he asked that question in his head he saw her heading towards the dance floor, after nudging him of course.
well, he couldn't just turn down her invitation, especially with her nudging at him like that. he just frowned for a moment, scratching his head, before he followed her.]
Don't blame me if I step on your feet!
no subject
[And even if it wasn't, too bad. If only for a little while, it'll give them something to focus on and she thinks that might help him. Even if they don't get it right, maybe it'll still be fun - no rules, they don't have to take this seriously.
Though his last comment earns a slight frown that's more put upon than she really means.]
If you know you might you can watch your own feet to make sure you don't. Aren't you supposed to be good on your feet anyway?

II
[Takeru seemed to be standing by the entrance door, greeting those who were walking through. He figured it was the least he could do to help, even if it wasn't that helpful unless people have questions.]
I hope your enjoy yourself while you are here. If you'd like I can explain what is around.
no subject
[Ann hasn't expected that there'd be anyone along the lines of an official greeter, though given she's never been to an event like this she can probably be forgiven for that.
She shakes her head at the offer - she's happy enough to explore with her friends and see what she finds - but she does pause to talk to him a little longer.]
Are you going to be joining us once most people arrive? It seems a little unfair if you're going to be stuck here all night.
no subject
[He smiled slightly.]
We didn't want this to go wrong since our friend who went home had been planning this before.
no subject
[Especially when she catches the rest. She knows who he means, given it's the same reason Futaba and Ryuji have been so determined to make it here.]
I'm sure you've done her proud. It looks like a lot of work has gone into organising all of this.
no subject
[he hopes things get better anyway. He really, really hopes.]
But because of that, I'm hoping to make people's nights the best they can be which includes you.
iii.
There is zero shame about what he's doing, even knowing she's right there. He's actually moving closer and trying to copy the angle she holds her phone at. Hers are definitely coming out way better than his are. He'd be annoyed but she's making a career out of this and would have to be the expert. ]
Is there a better way to take advantage of the lighting?
no subject
She doesn't realise he's taking that much notice of what she's doing until he's next to her; only when he speaks does she turn to address him because even as he's drawn closer she hasn't been sure of how to break the ice. She'd promised Futaba she wouldn't cause friction but that doesn't mean she knows how to be around him just yet.
But he's made the first move and she's happy to offer what she can.]
Honestly, a lot of it comes down to trial and error. A lot of the lighting here is set up for someone else to be taking the photo so you just have to figure out what works best for you. And a lot of that comes down to knowing what your own best angles are.
[And she's not a betting kind of girl but she'd consider putting money on the fact that Akechi's angles are not the same as hers.]
This seems to be a pretty good spot, though. Maybe try a few here?
[And she'll step aside so he can get more of the benefit of what she considers to be prime position.]
no subject
Ann, is one of the most approachable. She's the heart of the group, if one wants to assign the role. She understands people better than the rest of them, he thinks. Ren holds them together as a unit but he assumes without Ann Takamaki in the mix, their plans would be executed with less delicacy. That being said, if she decides she hates him, he stands absolutely no chance of not being slaughtered. ]
I see. So taking more than planned in order to land perfection is the way to go. [ Her angles are certainly different. Luckily, he isn't going in completely blind on this. Not a model but there's been enough cameras pointed in his direction to get a good enough idea on it. ]
Here? [ He takes the spot previously occupied by Ann and raises and lowers his phone, adjusting to the new position and taking a few simple ones while smiling appreciatively. ] You're right. This is a pretty good spot. You can hardly mes-- oh. No. That one was awful. [ Delete. ] I'm curious. Do you take these and then apply the knowledge in your work or do photographers usually tell the models exactly what to do?
no subject
[After all, no-one's going to admit that the photo they're putting online is number thirteen of twenty because it was the best of a set. Not if they're trying to keep up the illusion that a lot of people prefer to on social media.
Ann can't even say she's not guilty of it herself. It's something that tends to come from being in the public eye, something she realises she has somewhat in common with Akechi. True, the spotlight is more consequence of his job than the job itself but it's more common ground than she's ever really cared to think about before.
Which makes it just that little bit easier to respond to his question, she finds.]
Honestly it's probably the opposite - I know what my best angles are because I've had photographers guiding me at work. They're the ones who know what shots their clients want, after all. Though you do get used to doing it enough that they don't have to say much more than the idea they want. The little things just become second nature, I guess...is that the same with TV?
no subject
how often has she lied? they all did play him for a fool.
he laughs lightly, rubbing the back of his neck. ]
Not quite. I never had my own makeup team or manager to steer me in the right direction concerning this sort of thing. You sit where the director tells you to and face the designated camera then you're on your own. The people running talk shows and news programs focus on simply making sure you're in the shot and saying things that will provide a good story. Trying to make me look good was never their job, it was mine.
no subject
[It's an attempt at a joke, if not her strongest; it might be true that she has learned a few tricks here and there to not need quite so many attempts but it's still by no means instant for her.
At least when she doesn't have to talk, she can perform convincingly. It's when she has to actually open her mouth and say something that the acting falls apart.]
Oh, really? I thought they would have make-up artists for the guests even if just for the basics. Maybe you're just one of the lucky ones that doesn't need any even on TV. Or did you learn to take care of all that first before you showed up?
[Honestly, she'd believe either for what she's learning about him now.]
