GENESSIA PROM!
For any and all who agreed to help with the decorations, this would be the time to gather at the Hotel. A large list of assignments will be posted on the wall near the entrance, with duties including but not limited to:
1. Setting Tables, including placement of centerpieces
2. Wall and ceiling decorations, involving a lot of gossamer drapery and lights
3. Preparing the buffet table, with a mixture of hot and cold foods, as well as a separate table at the end for delectable deserts
4. Getting all necessary equipment on stage for the Live Band to perform. Sound Checks may occur throughout.
5. A side dressing room area set up exclusively for those who volunteered to take the time to get ready themselves, including special hair and makeup stations and a large rack to hang their dresses & shoes to change into later

II - HOTEL LOBBY (6:30pm onward)

Cozy and luxurious in its own right, those who arrive before Prom is scheduled to begin will be allowed to lounge in the Hotel Lobby for a spell. Meeting and greeting other early birds and partaking in a select few hors d'oeuvre made available while waiting for the doors to open
III. - PROM PHOTOS!

In the far corner of the lobby, a cute backdrop will be set up, ready for any and all couples/groups/brave souls going stag for the evening to take a memorable photograph! Selfies are welcome throughout, but for those desiring a more professional setup, Hikari Yagami will be on hand for the first and last hours of the night for "official" Prom Photos.
Smile, everyone!
IV - EATING/DRINKING

With a "bar" consisting of 90% nonalcoholic beverages--the remaining ten percent reserved for of age chaperones--and a buffet table spanning the length of the side wall, there will be no shortage of food options that night! Hot pasta dishes, cold sandwiches, fruits, vegetable platters, and a special end section devoted to some of the best sweets Genessia's bakeries have to offer!
Of course, what prom would be complete without the traditional Fruit Bowl Punch? Better get a sip in early, though...because some traditions never die, and it's not like those in charge can keep an eye on that bowl the entire night, can they?
V. - DANCE FLOOR

With a live band (Thank you, Professor!) ready to rock, you'll soon be dancing the night away, under ethereal decorations that will really make you feel like you're dancing among the stars!
In between sets, there will be a DJ spinning a mixture of slow dances, crowd favorites, and songs that'll really get the party rockin' (
VI. - CHAPERONES

Because somebody's got to make sure the kids behave.
Hopefully actual adults who can behave themselves.
VII. - MINGLING/MISC.
What other shenanigans could the teens and tweens of Genessia possible get up to? The night is young, and so are they~

[ She swirls her drink idly, not wholly interested in drinking it so much as she is in just watching the red liquid swish around the sides. When he speaks this time the corners of her lips twitch, threatening to dip her smile downward before she manages to catch herself. She nods and motions with her hand for him to have a seat beside her, with more than enough space to accommodate them both. ]
I was. [ She finally admits after a few seconds, the lines on her skin flickering faintly. ] A friend of mine was supposed to join me tonight, but it seems he has decided to do otherwise.
no subject
Unfortunate as it may be, if he is gone, it was probably not meant as a slight to you. [Not that he knows for sure one way or another, but he has a feeling from how genuine she seems to be that it would be more likely than her having accepted a date from someone who would just bail on her because.]
no subject
She takes a sip of her drink, nose scrunching slightly at the sweetness of it. Sweeter than she anticipated. ] Disappointed though I may be, I never assumed it to be a slight. And truly, I am happy for him if he has returned home — so many do not wish to be trapped here as they are.
[ and she sounds genuine enough when she says it, shrugging as she looks to the dance floor. ] No need to dwell on matters that are beyond my control though. How long have you been in Genessia?
no subject
Not long, [he starts, frowning somewhat sourly.] an hour, or less. This just happened to be where most people were located. [He'd been stalking through the streets, bare feet and all just a little while before the party started, until he'd been directed here, where a good number of people in his predicament were congregated.]
no subject
My, I cannot say my own arrival lead so quickly to such excitement. Are you - would you care to speak somewhere that is not so lively? I could answer any questions you may yet have.
no subject
Right now it is more informative to watch others. [sort of, at least. he considers again] But should you find the volume unacceptable I suppose we could find somewhere easier to talk.
[He DID have questions about her. Just not Genessia proper.]
no subject
Sensitive they may be, my ears have suffered far worse than this. [ She smiles, takes another sip of her drink and then sets it aside for the time being. ] What is it you wish to talk about, then?
no subject
You're an elf, aren't you? Different from any I've seen before, despite the similarities I've mentioned. I can't help but be more curious about you and where you're from, since there was plenty of information at hand about our current situation.
[He's eager, but holding back. He hadn't meant to alarm her of course, and he offers a vague apologetic nod after he's managed to express where his curiosities lie.]
no subject
An elf, of sorts. My people are called Lunari — we are creatures of magic created by the guardian Spirits of my world. The markings you speak of are something akin to veins - a means to channel magical energy through our bodies. [ She waves a finger pointedly in the air, letting wisps of blue flutter off her fingers to dissipate a few seconds later. ] From what I have read and heard of elves more common to other worlds, you fit the description quite well. I have a feeling you might be different, however. No book can pin down an entire race.
no subject
Impressive. [He straightens up a little as she speaks, is interest increasing. If only all creatures could be so in tune with the spirits. When she mentions him again, he tilts his head slightly a chuckle escaping.]
It's certainly possible, but you're right. No one book can do an entire race justice. I'm an elf, and a mage—an apostate to be exact, but the two are not mutually exclusive.
no subject
An apostate? Not a word I oft associate with mages, if I am being truthful. What sort of magic do you practice?
no subject
Something similar to you, I would hazard to guess, but there's a chance that like Elves, it's all very different. The magic I use all comes from the same place, in the end. Anyone could have the talent, but it all comes from the Fade, beyond the Veil that separates it from Thedas. I've yet to have the chance to see if I can travel into the fade here, if it even reaches this place.
[He pauses, realizing that he's gone off on a tangent. But he remains more animated than before, regardless.] With enough training, magic can take the shape of anything, fire, ice, electricity. It's why those who cannot harness its power fear it so.
no subject
For now she remains quiet, listening intently to his explanation. She internally chastises herself for not bringing a notebook (how could she have known she would meet such interesting people at prom?) so she could write this down. Doubtful she'll forget at least, before she makes it home. ]
People fear what they do not understand - 'tis a trait I can safely say is shared among the varying worlds we hail from. [ People in Kilarria don't fear magic, but they certainly fear things they don't know or cannot control themselves. What a shame. ] How does one travel to the Fade?
no subject
Carefully, mind you. There are many dangers in the fade, and it's not unusual for the unpracticed mage or otherwise to find their end. But there's also much to see and learn, should you be open to it. I've spent countless hours wandering, learning from spirits when I could.
no subject
I would like to see it. [ She cants her head to the side, grinning. ] Should you try and find your way there, you should tell me how you fare.
no subject
If it is something you really want to experience I'll have to see if it is possible. I am worried that I might be entirely removed from it... [the thought is obviously upsetting.] I haven't yet had the opportunity to see. My ... priorities have obviously been elsewhere.
no subject
Her smile fades just a little though at his worry that he might be removed from it. ]
Hopefully that is not the case. I know not how such things work in a realm like this, but with any luck there may yet be a connection to your Fade. [ She smiles again, reaching out to pat his hand lightly with one of her own. ] It sounds exciting, though. I would never wish to pass up such an opportunity.
no subject
These lines are still remarkable. The way they glow reminds me of lyrium, but it's altogether different...
no subject
If he touches any of the lines - and chances are he will, given how many curve around her fingers - there's a spark of energy, and a faint tingle against the skin. ]
Forgive me for asking so many questions, but now I am curious as to what Lyrium may be. A magical element where you are from?
no subject
You don't need to apologize for seeking answers. In fact I find it quite admirable. [he hadn't expected th spark, but doesn't find it unordinary -- it makes sense, given what these lines are for her.]
Raw Lyrium is a mineral, a volatile one. It can cause those who come in contact with it to get quite sick, or even die. But refined, it can be quite useful, and can strengthen a mages' abilities, their connection to the fade.
no subject
[ Not often as in NEVER. ]
I see. And is it required, or simply a benefit? [ a beat. ] Would you need it here, I mean.
no subject
And of course, there is Red Lyrium, but I am no expert on that. [a particular dwarf he knows, however, is.] But I am doing most of the talking. I apologize.
no subject
Do not apologize, I am happy to listen. [ Her hand twitches, reflexively moving to dismiss his words with a wave when she realizes he's still holding onto it. Ah. ] You are free to ask questions of me, of course, should that help.
no subject
I'm curious about how your magic works, actually. Perhaps it is presumptious, but it must have something to do with these leylines, correct? I can feel the energy coming from them.
[it's fascinating, honestly. It must mean there are plenty of concequences to exhausting her magic, or benefits otherwise. So many questions. But for now, he's going to finally release her hand, mostly out of politeness.]
no subject
You are correct. They act like ... conduits, I suppose, helping to channel our magic in different ways. It keeps us alive, for one, but when we craft spells we take some of that energy from inside of us and mold it as we see fit. Help from the elements makes the process less of a strain. Healing works a little differently — it is like giving a piece of ourselves to those that we heal.
We recover slowly, feeding from the Earth but never enough to disrupt the balance around us. Should we exert ourselves too much, we can rest or partake in food. Otherwise, we do not need much of either.
