I - SETUP (12:00pm-5:00pm)

For any and all who agreed to help with the decorations, this would be the time to gather at the Hotel. A large list of assignments will be posted on the wall near the entrance, with duties including but not limited to:

1. Setting Tables, including placement of centerpieces
2. Wall and ceiling decorations, involving a lot of gossamer drapery and lights
3. Preparing the buffet table, with a mixture of hot and cold foods, as well as a separate table at the end for delectable deserts
4. Getting all necessary equipment on stage for the Live Band to perform.  Sound Checks may occur throughout.
5. A side dressing room area set up exclusively for those who volunteered to take the time to get ready themselves, including special hair and makeup stations and a large rack to hang their dresses & shoes to change into later

II - HOTEL LOBBY (6:30pm onward)

Cozy and luxurious in its own right, those who arrive before Prom is scheduled to begin will be allowed to lounge in the Hotel Lobby for a spell. Meeting and greeting other early birds and partaking in a select few hors d'oeuvre made available while waiting for the doors to open

 

III. - PROM PHOTOS!

In the far corner of the lobby, a cute backdrop will be set up, ready for any and all couples/groups/brave souls going stag for the evening to take a memorable photograph! Selfies are welcome throughout, but for those desiring a more professional setup, Hikari Yagami will be on hand for the first and last hours of the night for "official" Prom Photos.

IV - EATING/DRINKING

  

With a "bar" consisting of 90% nonalcoholic beverages--the remaining ten percent reserved for of age chaperones--and a buffet table spanning the length of the side wall, there will be no shortage of food options that night!  Hot pasta dishes, cold sandwiches, fruits, vegetable platters, and a special end section devoted to some of the best sweets Genessia's bakeries have to offer!

Of course, what prom would be complete without the traditional Fruit Bowl Punch?  Better get a sip in early, though...because some traditions never die, and it's not like those in charge can keep an eye on that bowl the entire night, can they?

V. - DANCE FLOOR

With a live band (Thank you, Professor!) ready to rock, you'll soon be dancing the night away, under ethereal decorations that will really make you feel like you're dancing among the stars!

In between sets, there will be a DJ spinning a mixture of slow dances, crowd favorites, and songs that'll really get the party rockin' (LMFAO style).

 

VI. - CHAPERONES

 

Because somebody's got to make sure the kids behave.

Hopefully actual adults who can behave themselves.

 

VII. - MINGLING/MISC.
 

What other shenanigans could the teens and tweens of Genessia possible get up to?  The night is young, and so are they~

I - SETUP

[Clipboard in hand with a list of all the afternoon's tasks, Hikari will be found...just about anywhere at any given time. Checking on the lights to be hung over the dance floor. The centerpieces for the tables. Taking stock of the food deliveries, and with a bit of help from the Hotel Staff, keeping the hot dishes sitting in a warm oven and the cooler dishes refrigerated.]

[Somehow, she manages to find time to eat during all of this. Snacking throughout. In fact, it wouldn't be difficult to find her with a piece of fruit or sandwich in hand. The only thing she seemed to be neglecting, in fact, would be her own preparations for the upcoming event. Her dress in a bag in the back of a designated "staff room", shoes and makeup/hair bag on the adjacent shelf, seemingly forgotten until the last minute.

II - HOTEL LOBBY

[Despite this, at half six, the young girl will be seen in the Hotel Lobby, dressed in a cute, modest pink dress, completely with flowers adorning her usual hairstyle and the lightest traces of makeup on her face. She looks pleased with herself, though anyone who knows her well enough would be able to read the expression more as one of pure relief.]

[As guests begin to arrive, she'll settle down and transition from the role of host to that of a fellow prom attendee. Smiling at any familiar face who approaches. Maybe recommending one of the hors d'oeuvre being passed around.]

III - PROM PHOTOS

[For the first and last hours of the night, Hikari will be on hand to take anyone's Official Prom photo who requests. Any special prints will have to be custom ordered, but a single digital copy will be available complimentary to all.]

[Of course, Hikari herself notably remains behind the camera, not in front of it...unless someone can convince her otherwise.]

IV - EATING/DRINKING

[Running an entire prom can leave a girl with a big appetite.]

[Perhaps not as large as her brother's...or her digimon's...but there would be a healthy portion of food found on her plate later in the evening as she took a rest break, sitting herself at one of the several open tables. She seems to have sampled a bit of everything, including a second plate devoted entirely for sweets.]

[Most notably, she opted for water instead of any punch.]

V - DANCE FLOOR

[Ever the introverted walflower, Hikari happily watches the crowds on the dance floor from the sidelines. Content to celebrate the evening vicariously through them...unless someone comes up and invites her for a dance.]

[it's at the end of a set and time for someone else on the stage and he has a break, not that he needs one. He sees her in the shadows and smiles]

[She smiles back, bowing her head lightly in respectful greeting.]

[Hikari was quite reserved by nature, and very rarely gave away her deeper thoughts and emotions though facial or body language alone. Even then, her posture seemed relaxed. Her eyes continued to scan the room with more curiosity or vicarious joy than any fear or hesitation. ]

Much better, now that everything seems to be going well.

[Indicating that, for a time, she wasn't sure that would be the case.]

Excellent. [he can't really tell if she's sincere or not. It seems so but from what he understands, her friend is gone. Mimi. His niece for a time. And even though he hasn't spoken with Amy much here, he still feels the emptiness of her leaving, again. Like the gap where a tooth used to be, right in the back and he can't stop examining it. She's better with Rory, of course she is. She always must be. But River is certainly isn't. Still things will move on as always they do]

It's a nice diversion. [he has to agree there] Is this what proms are generally like?

[They had been so busy during set up and the beginning that Takeru never had the time to make a compliment about his girlfriends dress or even give her the gift he had brought for this. After what he had been told, he had been told it was a good idea.

Giving a small sigh to himself, he knew he shouldn't really be nervous and that the lessons he had been taking were really for this moment. But the nerves still lingered regardless.

He soon made his way over, hands behind his back and a small smile placed upon his lips.]

Hey Hikari, you look beautiful tonight. [The first thing one would notice was the fact for a chance, Takeru decided to not wear a hat, knowing if Mimi was here she wouldn't have wanted him to.]

[She always said she could tell when he was serious and when he was just teasing. This...was one of those times when everything about him--from his tone, to his smile, to the way he looked at her--told of nothing but pure sincerity. Mimi would have been proud.]

Thank you. [And though she had already caught glimpses of his outfit, hat-free and all, she still took the time to give him a considerate once-over before adding. Mostly because the averted gaze helped disguise the faint blush at his compliment] You look very nice too.

[He couldn't help but chuckle slightly. he knew her well enough to know that she might be blushing at the compliment. But regardless he had moved in closer.]

So I have a present for you that I haven't managed to give you before.

[He finally moved his hands away from behind his back to reveal a box. Sitting inside it was a corsage.]

You didn't have to...

[Any modest insistance died on her lips, however, when she caught sight of the box. And the corsage inside. Her eyes softened with genuine appreciation as she took it in. A flower that would go so well with her dress--Takeru was always good about noticing the little things.]

[One of the countless things she appreciated about him.]

Oh, Takeru. It's lovely.

I thought it would look nice on you.

[he had gone to remove it from the box, placing the box to the side for the time being. He was planning on keeping it in the back after this because it wasn't really going to be needed for much longer.

He soon lightly touched her left hand with his right, lifting it up for a moment so he could put it on.]

See. It's perfect, just like you.

VII - MISC.

[The night winding down, Ted made sure to catch the organizer and offer his sympathies. She may recognize him being the one who smiled just a bit too much during his picture.]

Hello! Good evening. Ms. Hikari?

[A pregnant pause.]

Thank you very much for setting all this up. 'Twas a novel and lovely experience. I'm sorry about Mimi; we knew each other decently, and I'm sure she'd have liked it as much, if not more, than I.

[intothelens]

[Recognizing Ted from a few prior conversation on top of the blinding photo from before, she greeted him with a slightly more demure expression. Nodding her acknowledgement of his approach, and greeting him in kind before waiting out that pause.]

[It was clear to her he had something important on his mind, so she didn't press. Giving him the time to gather his thoughts...and smiling sadly when he brought up Mimi.]

Thank you. That's very kind of you to say.

And I'm sure you're right. Mimi would have loved tonight. Everything about Prom seems to suit her perfectly.

Heh, yes, just her bag.

[He feels strange, for it seemed as though they'd said all they needed to too quickly. As though being efficient was a vulgarity.]

Well, if you need help cleaning up or something, let me know. I'll linger a while yet.

[..."her bag"? She silently echoed the phrase, unfamiliar with it, before moving on.]

When the evening's over, I have no doubt we'll need all the hands we can get for cleaning up.

Some of the hotel staff offered their services, but this is our event, so it's only right that we do as much ourselves as we can.

[Rapunzel had been exploring at the time, moving some stray hair behind her ear.]

Don't you want to have your picture taken?

[Offering Rapunzel a friendly wave, Hikari nodded enthusiastically at her first question...then seemed to hesitate at the second.]

...I tend to do better behind the camera than in front of it.

But I'm sure Takeru and I will have some taken of us later.

Tend to do better? What do you mean by that?

[Was it more awkward to be in front than behind or something? That was a thought that crossed her mind. Did it make them more comfortable, if so why?]

Though I am sure people will want to take pictures of you because you are beautiful.

Exactly as I said.

[She didn't seem overly eager to elaborate on the comment, however, as she was too busy blushing a light pink at Rapunzel's compliment.]

That's very sweet of you to say.

It's not that I've never had my picture taken before. I have. I just like taking pictures of other people more. Their smiles and moments are the ones I always want to capture.

[Rapunzel didn't know much about taking pictures and things like that. She had been learning other things while she was here, so she found herself drawn more and more into the conversation.]

Can I ask what it is about taking the pictures that you enjoy? I mean I know you mentioned Smiles and moments are ones you want to capture, but why do you want to?

[At one point, when Hikari is still playing the role of a host, Masaru comes in, wearing an outfit he seems entirely unsuited for. And as he's walking in, he's still messing around with his tie, which unfortunately unlike back home, he didn't have his mother to help him with like with his school uniform.]

God dammit, it's like a noose around my neck, I swear...!

[Once he finally gets it right, he looks up... and sees somebody he knows. Grinning widely, he waves and calls out.]

Hey! Hikari! Good to see you!

[She heard the complaining about the tie even before he caught sight of her, and as such, had turned in time to greet him with a warm smile and wave.]

Hello, Masaru.

You look very handsome this evening.

Eh? Handsome?

[He looked himself over and simply shrugged.]

If you say so. I had to get this outfit really cheap. Still don't have a lot to work with, here.

[Though not very surprised by his response, Hikari seemed...almost dismayed for a moment. Until she brightened and forced a smile.]

There’s no reason to be so hard on yourself.

This evening is supposed to be about enjoying ourselves, right? According to what Mimi told me about Prom.

Hard on myself? [Masaru blinked.] I wasn't trying to be, I just never really thought about that stuff very much.

But yeah, I plan on having a good time. That's what Mimi would want, right?
