I - SETUP (12:00pm-5:00pm)

For any and all who agreed to help with the decorations, this would be the time to gather at the Hotel. A large list of assignments will be posted on the wall near the entrance, with duties including but not limited to:

1. Setting Tables, including placement of centerpieces
2. Wall and ceiling decorations, involving a lot of gossamer drapery and lights
3. Preparing the buffet table, with a mixture of hot and cold foods, as well as a separate table at the end for delectable deserts
4. Getting all necessary equipment on stage for the Live Band to perform.  Sound Checks may occur throughout.
5. A side dressing room area set up exclusively for those who volunteered to take the time to get ready themselves, including special hair and makeup stations and a large rack to hang their dresses & shoes to change into later

II - HOTEL LOBBY (6:30pm onward)

Cozy and luxurious in its own right, those who arrive before Prom is scheduled to begin will be allowed to lounge in the Hotel Lobby for a spell. Meeting and greeting other early birds and partaking in a select few hors d'oeuvre made available while waiting for the doors to open

 

III. - PROM PHOTOS!

In the far corner of the lobby, a cute backdrop will be set up, ready for any and all couples/groups/brave souls going stag for the evening to take a memorable photograph! Selfies are welcome throughout, but for those desiring a more professional setup, Hikari Yagami will be on hand for the first and last hours of the night for "official" Prom Photos.

IV - EATING/DRINKING

  

With a "bar" consisting of 90% nonalcoholic beverages--the remaining ten percent reserved for of age chaperones--and a buffet table spanning the length of the side wall, there will be no shortage of food options that night!  Hot pasta dishes, cold sandwiches, fruits, vegetable platters, and a special end section devoted to some of the best sweets Genessia's bakeries have to offer!

Of course, what prom would be complete without the traditional Fruit Bowl Punch?  Better get a sip in early, though...because some traditions never die, and it's not like those in charge can keep an eye on that bowl the entire night, can they?

V. - DANCE FLOOR

With a live band (Thank you, Professor!) ready to rock, you'll soon be dancing the night away, under ethereal decorations that will really make you feel like you're dancing among the stars!

In between sets, there will be a DJ spinning a mixture of slow dances, crowd favorites, and songs that'll really get the party rockin' (LMFAO style).

 

VI. - CHAPERONES

 

Because somebody's got to make sure the kids behave.

Hopefully actual adults who can behave themselves.

 

VII. - MINGLING/MISC.
 

What other shenanigans could the teens and tweens of Genessia possible get up to?  The night is young, and so are they~

A. Pre-Party

[Ted--would you believe he never attended charm school?--endeavored to be the perfect gentleman for his date tonight, opening doors ahead of time, and so on. The two of them made a couple with classic appeal, bringing to mind the phrase "opposites attract." Ted was all smiles, with a white rose for his boutonniere. His date, as always, was likely frowning with her eternal solemnity and no-nonsense demeanor. Satsuki, nicknamed "Star" by yours truly, had taken it upon herself to dress him in a handsome black tuxedo. Only obedient, deferential love could allow it, fond as he is of colors and not their antipodes. Still, Satsuki is, to put it mildly, knowledgeable about clothes, and tailored it to bring out his best features.]

[Ted, lover of novelties that he is, is only too happy to be sharing such a new experience with his years-long benefactor. It's why, amidst the small talk and frothy socializing, he takes the opportunity to boast to any who will listen.]

She looks stunning, doesn't she? Don't we complement well?

B. Dance Floor

Haha, goodness, Star, cast your gaze towards the ceiling. It's almost too thematically appropriate, eh? Just your thing.

[He refers, of course, to the prom's theme: "Dancing in (with?) the Starlight." Don't mind if he does! It's no secret that dancing is very much his thing; in fact, this is what he's been looking forward to most of all. They'd sunk plenty of hours into fencing, but now came the time for a very different kind of footwork.]

How about we start with a waltz, and work our way from there?

[Sorry, Satsuki; partner dances necessitate getting hands-on. If his partner will let him, he'll give her a break to pluck some of the other flowers off the wall for dances too. What a gentleman.]

C. Wild card

[Let's be honest: Satsuki will probably need a break from him at some point. He's happy to mingle, talk about romance, show you a few dance moves, or even goof off and pull a few lighthearted pranks.

[Anastasia couldn't have a care in the world right now, but in between the activities she was doing, she saw this and stopped dead in her tracks.]

Anastasia was about to comment that Satsuki has her condolences as well, but she stopped.]

[That gets him snickering, as Satsuki's been one of the longest and surprisingly enduring relationships in the world he's had. What could be more natural?]

Hahaha! I'd no idea we were so clandestine! Never wondered where Star's been to for an hour or two every week for years? Goodness, who knew our affair was so secret?

Well, I hope the revelation hasn't shocked you unduly. But now I'm curious: why would it?

[Awfully saucy words he's using. What's the fun of their date if he can't bask in Satsuki's discomfort?]

[So much for not being sassy and brash. It's talk like that is why she has such a hard time trusting Ted.]

[Oh my. More sassy and brash Anastasia might just be what the doctor ordered. That said Satsuki has clearly made an error in letting Ted carry the conversation for this long. She has no one but herself to blame.]

He was the only one that asked me. [She finds it kind of sad, really, but it isn't like Satsuki has the same presence as she did as Guardian.] And he is not moving in with us.

[Anastasia still doesn't understand why Satsuki still said yes, or didn't deny or correct anything Ted said. Unless...]

...So there really is something between you two? Are you both formally and officially...romantic with each other?

[In Satsuki's mind she doesn't believe Ted is remotely worthy of courting her so of course they wouldn't be dating. Unfortunately the way Satsuki thinks isn't always exactly the common opinion- so when Anastasia asks if they're together, her brows furrow.]

No.

[That came out a little more aggressive than she wanted.]

And if we were, everyone would know.

[Because as far as she's concerned, Ted would have sung his praises to the heavens (or in this case the network) about they being a couple.]

Besides, I do not find romance to be a worthwhile goal.

[It took Rika a few tries to find Ted, alone. He's one of the people here in Genessia that she trusts to be helpful... He's also an adult. Rika isn't sure what age range she falls into anymore. Biologically 16, but with all of her crazy past horrors mixing her up.

Maybe she'll feel better in adult company.]

I saw that you had a date! I am so happy for you, yes!

Haha, thank you! I'd be much put out were we not seen, after all the trouble Star's taken to dress us. I insisted on having pictures to mark the fact. Still, "blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed."

Are you with anyone?

[He's expecting a friend and not a boyfriend; he'd be mortified for one so young to find romance. Remember what happened to Juliet. Speaking of friends...]

Oh, and how is your living situation? Any improvements?

[Rika giggles, amused by how blunt and honest Ted is. Most people she knows would be much more flustered about having a date, especially one that they're so happy with.]

Yes. I am going to move in with Minako. I can help her with her cleaning and cooking that way. [She smiles, proud of this.] Thank you so much for your help, Ted.

[His face first registers deep astonishment. He'd helped someone? Substantially? And that with a single phone call? Not only that, but the beneficence was double-edged; it seemed as though Minako would benefit as well! Ted's felt impotence or helping others, or only helping mannequins of no importance, had put a pall on his mood. Now that's was all brushed away. He's so overcome with glorious goodwill that he moves to embrace her.]

Oh how happy I am to hear that! God bless you both!

[And glance up she does- It doesn't take her long to make the connection, and it actually brings a very slight smile to form, but it vanishes once she looks back to him.]

I suppose so.

[Truth be told, it has been some time she's she's last demonstrated any radiance, but the time at the prom has restored some of her wounded resolve.

A waltz, he says? Her brows do raise in mild surprise. There's a moment of hesitation, then,]

[Was that a smile he saw, rarity of rarities? Judging by the blast of vertical wind like a gust from a vent, he couldn't miss the raising of her formidable brows.]

Haha: the man, that is, myself, per tradition.

[Subtly, tactilely, he puts his left hand to her right with his right arm supporting her shoulder.]

[He'll start with the simple box step, moving forward while she, if Satsuki knows the steps, mirrors backward. Annnd one-two-three one-two-three]

A foolish question, in retrospect.

[Not that she would have minded leading; she's be doing a lot of studying on several types of dances so doesn't believe that Ted will get a leg up on her.

Of course, she could be horribly wrong. Satsuki very briefly stiffens the moment he sets his hand upon her right, but recovers quickly enough to meet his opposite hand with her own. From there she smoothly follows his steps to the point of making it appear they've done this before.]

... I want to know why you asked me to join you.

[Flawless transition.]

[As she comfortably keeps with his pace, he smiles wider. That means he can do some more advanced moves yet.]

Have you done this before? In that case...

[Out of the box they go into more circular, natural rhythms, easily flitting about.]

Hah, for the dance? Why, it'd be improper to do so with anyone else before yourself.

[Perhaps she meant the prom in general...]

[For Satsuki this isn't unlike their sparring sessions; it isn't difficult to anticipate his movements with what she's studied. Before she can answer he raises the level a bit which, again, she manages to keep up with.

But what really surprises her is that lack of unpleasantness. She had seen dancing as an opportunity to practice her discipline but she could almost describe this as fun.

That said, a slightly annoyed look is given to Ted.]

I am talking about the prom. Someone as social as yourself surely has no shortage of options closer to your tastes.

[That makes him chortle, both for her annoyance and the oddly complimentary insinuation.]

Haha, doubtless! Don Juan may well be my prototype. What would you know about my tastes, eh?

[Now for their most advanced move yet: a spin. He extended his arm to give her a twirl, hoping she pulls it off before pulling her back close.]

Well, one of my tastes is for women who know how to live. Those who stay the course I admire very much. You've lived in the world, astoundingly, longer than I have, and not once have either given up on the other. Unlike fencing, that's one skill I should not like to surpass.

[He talks during the dance smoothly, not missing a single step.]

We've known each other very long, haven't we? Might as well be several lifetimes, by Genessia's inconstant standards. And in all that time, I can hardly believe I've never offered an invitation like this. To take a lady dancing, I mean. Ha, were I you I'd be quite cross, but then you've always treated my procrastination very gently.

[As he talks, he incorporates rises and falls to vary their movements and give their dance a floating, melodic quality.]

Can't blame a man for capturing fortune, eh? Besides, I like you, especially in that dress.

You speak of it more than you may believe; I just do not comment on it.

[Though she bases on what he believes to be a 'proper' lady to be the same as his ideal. Hardly perfect, but enough for her to believe she doesn't match. His clarification brings her pause, not enough for her to flub the twirl completely but there is a pause that only an expert might catch. Having never actually been twirled before, she's brought back in with slightly flushed cheeks due to the strange sensation.]

In regards to 'Genessia's inconstant standards' I completely agree. And I suspect my servitude toward Nova City, be it Guardian or Deputy, making connections, on top of my other obligations would have something to do with having not asked earlier. It doesn't seem until the start of this year that I have more time than I know what to do with.

[She steadily grows more comfortable, as if she hadn't been twirled at all, but she can't help but give him a slightly confused look in the end.]

What are you saying? You have captured fortune long before asking me to the prom.

[Satsuki knows she's rocking her dress. She didn't necessarily pick it because she liked it- Her intent is to appear the more stunning than Weiss.]

Eheh, well, thank you for being so discrete with my indiscretions on what's loved in the other sex.

[True enough; Ted finds the feminine attractive by its own, original qualities; mannishness of any stripe is out. And, as evidenced by taking so long to outdo her in swordsmanship, she's not exactly Helen of Troy. Still, in reality it hadn't bothered him as much as he might've expected. Are his ideals all fantasy, or has time and familiarity eroded them?]

Haha. So it wasn't tardiness, but the contrary: good judgment and timing. How lovely it is that serendipity has all the surety of a scheme. You flatter so well; we ought to marry.

[Satsuki had said something similar when he went to boot camp. "I'd like to do this sudden undertaking." "I wanted you to. Just as planned." As though nothing he thought original fell out of her mind, like she were the Illuminati. So long as she's flattering...]

I'm happy to fill your newfound time, nonetheless. Have I been opportunistic before? Do tell.

[Hold that thought; he'll throw in another maneuver, this time motioning for a mutual back turn, where both spin before returning to their positions.]

[Satsuki isn't certain how she feels about being thanked for her being discrete- In the beginning she thought he acted the way he did to get a rise out of her, not that she'd ever admit to that. Her thoughts have changed since then, of course. In contrast to all his words, her response is:]

[Satsuki continues to keep up with Ted. She feels more comfortable with the back turn, though can't help but be impressed with the end result. In all her preparation, she had never even considered they would possess natural chemistry on the dance floor.]

The name you have given me says it all, does it not?

[She won't claim to be a professional on tarot cards, but she had to at least research what in the world 'The Star' represented.]

[He's eager to test Satsuki's upper limit on waltz, upping the complexity and varying their motions. Going one way, then another, swerving to this side or retreating back suddenly. He motioned for a whisk, then did a few more inside and outside turns.]

All right, now develope!

[That's ballroom speak for "kick", which he'd enjoy if she did. Just how much research did she do, he wondered? Or had she done it all before?]

Ah, the name? While it's very fortunate to find a star...

[Is this his chance to wax occult? He accepts, naturally. But so absorbed their movements become simpler.]

It says...growth. The actualization of potential. Becoming. The transformation from alpha to omega. Hope from supernal heights, materialized and directed to true creativity, nurturing with Waters of Life.

[All said very dreamily, almost as though in a trance.]
