I - SETUP (12:00pm-5:00pm)

For any and all who agreed to help with the decorations, this would be the time to gather at the Hotel. A large list of assignments will be posted on the wall near the entrance, with duties including but not limited to:

1. Setting Tables, including placement of centerpieces
2. Wall and ceiling decorations, involving a lot of gossamer drapery and lights
3. Preparing the buffet table, with a mixture of hot and cold foods, as well as a separate table at the end for delectable deserts
4. Getting all necessary equipment on stage for the Live Band to perform.  Sound Checks may occur throughout.
5. A side dressing room area set up exclusively for those who volunteered to take the time to get ready themselves, including special hair and makeup stations and a large rack to hang their dresses & shoes to change into later

II - HOTEL LOBBY (6:30pm onward)

Cozy and luxurious in its own right, those who arrive before Prom is scheduled to begin will be allowed to lounge in the Hotel Lobby for a spell. Meeting and greeting other early birds and partaking in a select few hors d'oeuvre made available while waiting for the doors to open

 

III. - PROM PHOTOS!

In the far corner of the lobby, a cute backdrop will be set up, ready for any and all couples/groups/brave souls going stag for the evening to take a memorable photograph! Selfies are welcome throughout, but for those desiring a more professional setup, Hikari Yagami will be on hand for the first and last hours of the night for "official" Prom Photos.

IV - EATING/DRINKING

  

With a "bar" consisting of 90% nonalcoholic beverages--the remaining ten percent reserved for of age chaperones--and a buffet table spanning the length of the side wall, there will be no shortage of food options that night!  Hot pasta dishes, cold sandwiches, fruits, vegetable platters, and a special end section devoted to some of the best sweets Genessia's bakeries have to offer!

Of course, what prom would be complete without the traditional Fruit Bowl Punch?  Better get a sip in early, though...because some traditions never die, and it's not like those in charge can keep an eye on that bowl the entire night, can they?

V. - DANCE FLOOR

With a live band (Thank you, Professor!) ready to rock, you'll soon be dancing the night away, under ethereal decorations that will really make you feel like you're dancing among the stars!

In between sets, there will be a DJ spinning a mixture of slow dances, crowd favorites, and songs that'll really get the party rockin' (LMFAO style).

 

VI. - CHAPERONES

 

Because somebody's got to make sure the kids behave.

Hopefully actual adults who can behave themselves.

 

VII. - MINGLING/MISC.
 

What other shenanigans could the teens and tweens of Genessia possible get up to?  The night is young, and so are they~

Technically, Prompto was working. Events like this meant candid photos, which his boss liked and they might be able to sell some at a later date. He hadn't gone to his prom,mostly because he was too shy to ask someone to go with him, and too shy to go alone.

This event meant he was dressed in a smart, black suit, with a black tie just because it was such a formal occasion.

However, he had a camera bag slung over his shoulder, and a camera in hand taking candid shots of anything that looked good.

That didn't mean he couldn't be convinced to dance, besides even photographers needed to take a break.

Belle was dressed in a beautiful gown for the event despite arriving to the ball alone. She was a little disheartened but determined to have a lovely evening. In her attempts to run into someone she knows she spots Prompto amidst the crowd. She hadn't known he was going to be here, he hadn't mentioned it. She felt suddenly uncomfortable and tried to think of the best way to approach him. He was working, maybe later... She watched as Prompto was dragged onto the dance floor by someone else and her heart felt a little heavy. Was it her or something she had done? Belle caught Prompto the next time that he was alone. Her teeth worried nervously at her lower lip as she forced her lips into a smile. It wasn't anything like her usual smiles but she was trying. "Prompto." Her voice sounded calm at least. "I didn't think you'd be here. That is, you hadn't mentioned it. I thought-" Belle wasn't sure what she was saying and she paused, looking away. Maybe she shouldn't have come tonight?

Prompto hadn't known he would be assigned the ball, and he hadn't told her, but then again it just hadn't crossed his mind to point it out to her. He didn't normally tell her about his assignments.

"Oh, hello Belle." He offered her a warm smile. "I didn't know I was going to be sent here. You look really beautiful."

She looked away though and he fiddled with the strap of his camera absently.

"...What's wrong? Are you not having fun?"

Her lips press together and she gently shook her head. The feeling was there, pressing against her chest and Belle found it hard to breath, hard to figure out exactly what she wanted to say. She's never had anything like this happen before.

"No it's just. Prom is an event you're supposed to go to with a date. To dance with and spend the evening with and-" She paused, gently chewing at her lower lip. "I don't have one."

"I know. That's why I didn't go to mine but uh-"

It dawned on him that she didn't have a date because he wasn't available to take her and he exhaled.

"I'm sorry. I was supposed to be working. I mean, I am working, I just didn't know it was gonna be here and...and I didn't know you wanted to go."

Prompto was beginning to feel that he seriously screwed something up.

Belle shook her head. "I'm sorry. I didn't have time to talk about it with you but... I did want to go, only, with you." Her fingers curled against the beautiful silky folds of her dress.

"I was told that it's the men who traditionally ask the women to these sorts of things. I didn't want to over step." It was a tradition that she was used too and with confidence she'd thought it was worth waiting for him.

It'd been her mistake.

Belle felt the moisture gather at the corner of her eyes. "I'm sorry. I should leave you to your work."

"That makes sense, no, yeah I know." Prompto wasn't entirely sure what to make of this, because he hadn't realized he'd screwed up in the first place and it was like being blindsided with something that he should have known.

Of course she'd wanted him to ask her because he was dating her. He should've thought of it.

He hadn't.

"I...yeah, traditionally it's like that. It's not- you wouldn't have been and I didn't..." He exhaled. She looked really upset and it was his fault.

"J-Just a second. Please?"

He held up his hands, to ask her to wait for him to at least explain himself, but she may not give him that opportunity, and he knew that. He would understand.

It's not a surprise to see Prompto running around behind the lens of a camera, and so when he gets close, Noctis will strike a few poses for his bro. Some candid, one cool, but mostly dorky as he winks for the last one, giving a peace sign with a dopey sort of grin.

"Just gonna watch everyone else have a good time all night, or what?"

Mostly, his best friend was the biggest dork he'd ever met. Sometimes it was hard to remember this was the king of their land. He grinned despite himself though, his mood was a little heavier after his previous encounter with Belle.

"That's the plan, I'm working. Why? Did you come to ask me to dance?"

Prompto chuckled and tried to shove Noct lightly.

"Like you could keep up," there's a light punch to the shoulder in return.

"I guess I just figured with you being mister popular here in this place that you'd be having a little more fun than just hiding behind your camera all night."

While Noct was probably right, since he didn't really know how to dance, he just snorted and lied. "Of course I could, I'm a great dancer."

No, he really was not.

"On what planet have I ever been mister popular?" He gave Noctis a pained look and a roll of his eyes.

"Anyway, Belle's kind of really upset with me right now." He looked down, he didn't really think and now they were in a bit of a mess.

There's almost a snort of his own, as Noct shifts his weight, crossing his arms over his chest, ready with a comeback about how many friends Prompto had made in their time here.

But then that second bomb drops, and he rolls his head back slightly on his neck, with a mock-disapproving look. "Uh oh, what did you do?"

"I didn't do anything!" He said defensively, hands up, one hand open, the other around the camera.

"I guess, maybe, she wanted to come here? But I didn't know that." He didn't ask her to the dance.

Hikari wasn't surprised in the least to find Prompto there, camera in hand, as well. While her own "job" for the evening--besides playing shadow hostess--was limited to a small time frame of "official" photos, she had considered doing more candid shots throughout the evening as well.

Great photography minds think alike, it seemed.

"Get any good shots?"

"Lots of great candid shots." He grinned. "You?"

Prompto was just doing work for the store, that was all and it always seemed to work out.

While Era has been on a roll with finding partners to dance with this evening, it's not with the intent to dance that she approaches the young man with the camera. She had missed the opportunity for a photograph when the event had just begun, busy with stage set-up and warming up her violin, but it is something she would like to have even if she's all alone - a memory to keep with her. To show Aymeric when she next sees him.

"Excuse me..." Her words are soft-spoken, with an accent not dissimilar to Lunafreya's. "Might you be able to take my picture?"

"Of course, y-yeah!" Prompto answered brightly, only stuttering a little bit at the unfamiliar person.

He raised his camera, adjusting the settings.

"Three seconds."

Prompto paused and clicked the shutter.

Admittedly Era has never truly encountered a stand-alone camera before, and so she's not entirely sure what's supposed to be happening. Or what has happened. Or whatever. She's been trying to get up to date on technology but there's just too much of it.

Television wasn't too difficult, nor were movies on little discs - it was similar enough to ancient Allagan technology. But what she knew of cameras before Xistentia were that they were expensive to purchase and maintain, and that to take a picture one needed a lot of light and to keep still for a great deal of time. Era is certain that the keeping still part is no longer applicable, at least.

So she'll just look at the blond, unsure, curious, and expectant.

"Thanks! Awesome!" He smiled at her and stepped forward.

"It came out great. W-Want to see?" Prompto stepped closer and turned the camera around so she could see her image reflected on the screen.

[astralera]

Era stands on her toes to get a better view. She has no real eye for photography so she'll accept it when he says it came out great. Even if it hadn't, Era would still be happy to have a keepsake of some sort.

"May I have a copy of it?"

[Lea had spotted Prompto at various points in the evening, always with the camera, and always alone. Which wasn't really right for a party; Lea understood having to work, but even he was getting a little socializing in tonight.

Thus, he approached Prompto carrying two cups of punch, one for himself and one for the other man, and offered a friendly smile.]

Workin' hard tonight while everybody else is partying, eh?

[Prompto smiles brightly and crouches down to his bag to put his camera down safely because it belongs to the store and he stands up to take the drink.]

Thanks. [He takes a drink.]

Y-Yeah, I've been taking pictures.

No problem.

You taking them for yourself, or for somebody else?

[The camera looked pretty fancy, but serious hobbyists often spent as much on their equipment as professionals.]

[His personal camera is pretty nice, but this one is much better.]

For my boss. [He smiles and sips the drink.] B-But I've taken a few personal requests!

[Lea sips his own drink.]

Heh, I've managed to avoid being in any awkward photos tonight, and I think I'll keep it that way if I can.

Though who's your boss, if you don't mind my asking?
