GENESSIA PROM!
For any and all who agreed to help with the decorations, this would be the time to gather at the Hotel. A large list of assignments will be posted on the wall near the entrance, with duties including but not limited to:
1. Setting Tables, including placement of centerpieces
2. Wall and ceiling decorations, involving a lot of gossamer drapery and lights
3. Preparing the buffet table, with a mixture of hot and cold foods, as well as a separate table at the end for delectable deserts
4. Getting all necessary equipment on stage for the Live Band to perform. Sound Checks may occur throughout.
5. A side dressing room area set up exclusively for those who volunteered to take the time to get ready themselves, including special hair and makeup stations and a large rack to hang their dresses & shoes to change into later

II - HOTEL LOBBY (6:30pm onward)

Cozy and luxurious in its own right, those who arrive before Prom is scheduled to begin will be allowed to lounge in the Hotel Lobby for a spell. Meeting and greeting other early birds and partaking in a select few hors d'oeuvre made available while waiting for the doors to open
III. - PROM PHOTOS!

In the far corner of the lobby, a cute backdrop will be set up, ready for any and all couples/groups/brave souls going stag for the evening to take a memorable photograph! Selfies are welcome throughout, but for those desiring a more professional setup, Hikari Yagami will be on hand for the first and last hours of the night for "official" Prom Photos.
Smile, everyone!
IV - EATING/DRINKING

With a "bar" consisting of 90% nonalcoholic beverages--the remaining ten percent reserved for of age chaperones--and a buffet table spanning the length of the side wall, there will be no shortage of food options that night! Hot pasta dishes, cold sandwiches, fruits, vegetable platters, and a special end section devoted to some of the best sweets Genessia's bakeries have to offer!
Of course, what prom would be complete without the traditional Fruit Bowl Punch? Better get a sip in early, though...because some traditions never die, and it's not like those in charge can keep an eye on that bowl the entire night, can they?
V. - DANCE FLOOR

With a live band (Thank you, Professor!) ready to rock, you'll soon be dancing the night away, under ethereal decorations that will really make you feel like you're dancing among the stars!
In between sets, there will be a DJ spinning a mixture of slow dances, crowd favorites, and songs that'll really get the party rockin' (
VI. - CHAPERONES

Because somebody's got to make sure the kids behave.
Hopefully actual adults who can behave themselves.
VII. - MINGLING/MISC.
What other shenanigans could the teens and tweens of Genessia possible get up to? The night is young, and so are they~

Shit, life is good.]
III - Pictures
[Namur's not opposed. He does reckon he has a rather charming smile, if you can get past all the teeth. Making memories with friends is also important. So what the hell? Why not?
He'll be more than happy to snap pics for others, too, provided he can figure out how to make the camera work. He's grown accustomed to technology that isn't more of a pet than a machine, but that doesn't mean he's very good with it.]
IV - Eating and Drinking
[Namur's not super into the food, but he came to dance- and that means he needs to make sure he drinks a lot, too. Is he gonna be that guy, the one that spikes the punch? He could be. Or maybe he's being responsible tonight and just drinking a lot of water. It may depend on who he meets near the punch bowl...]
V - DANCING
[Hell yes, this is what he's here for. Others are welcome to ask him to dance if they're feeling brave, or maybe he'll ask them if he notices they're just hanging out on the fringes, looking like they want to dive but might be afraid of the sharks. Or maybe someone just wants to step back and watch him tear it up whenever a fitting song comes along. It's all good.]
[He's making sure to grab Rip to dance with him for several songs, too, even if it means literally grabbing her by the waist and carrying her away.
Because he can.]
VI - Chaperone???
[NOT TONIGHT SUCKAS. But maybe he and Rip have gotten a little too saucy for the smolts in the crowd- they do have a tendency to egg each other on and go way over the top. Someone probably ought to get up the guts to say something about it. Or maybe someone has a problem and, by dint of being eight feet tall, Namur somehow comes off as a responsible adult that could be mistaken as a chaperone. Well, whatever. He can do their jobs, too. He's a badass like that.]
VII - Mingling
[Wildcard! Anything you might want to run into this guy for that doesn't fit above fits itself nicely right here. It's all good!]
VI Chaperone Namur
So did they pick the biggest baddest chaperone, or are you here for the high school girls?
no subject
[He really thinks that was somehow clever. Namur reaches out for Faye's hand.]
C'mon an' dance with me. Won't be a dumbass this time. That was real shitty a me.
no subject
Oh really? So you're not going to mutter something about promises then ditch me on the dancefloor?
*She doesn't take that hand just yet, just folds her arms and pouts at him*
no subject
Naw sweetheart. Mean, for one, this's me now, aye? Ain't cruisin' 'round in someone else's skin. For 'nother, I...
[Namur squats down, resting his elbows on his knees.]
'S complicated. Didn't mean t' hurt y' like that, I'm jus'...
A dumbass. 'M sorry, Faye. I'unno what t' do. I done the right thing but it hurt y' bad so maybe sometimes doin' the right thing's the wrong thing, yanno?
no subject
*She frowns at him then, pointedly turning her head when he squats to allow them to see eye to eye, at least in a sense*
Complicated. I'm sure. We were having a nice time and suddenly you go cold and start talking about promises and leave without explaining. That's pretty damn rude if you ask me.
*Then she does turn to him, still frowning, angry eyes narrowed*
And so what? You call yourself a dumbass and say you're sorry and that's it? I'm just supposed to forget about you embarrassing me like that?

But when there is a man who looks similar to a Sahagin and is taller than any Au Ra man she has ever seen getting decidedly too 'affectionate' with his partner... Well, there are some children here no older than Rielle or Arya who should not be exposed to such things. Perhaps when they're older. And not from witnessing things at a dance.
Sending a silent thanks to a few of her dear friends in Xistentia for giving Era the confidence to face such things head on, she does just that. Strides right up to the man when she notices he's disentangled himself from his partner (he's easier for her to spot), expression not angry or unkind, but softly determined. ]
Excuse me, sir?
[ Era makes sure to speak more loudly than she would normally - first because of the music, and second because of the rather drastic differences in their respective heights. She's entirely unphased by his stature and this is clear at a glance. There's not an ounce of worry on her face or in her posture. ]
no subject
[As per usual, he sniffs when he meets a new person. It's his version of looking them over.]
'Sup sweetheart? Wanna dance?
no subject
[ And this is where she falters, because she doesn't like telling people what they can and can't do - even if this is just a request, not a demand - and she definitely does not like to interfere with other people lives... But.
Her cheeks flush with an embarrassment that she does her best to ignore. She can just imagine her old friend Rose's indignation over what she's about to ask. ]
While it's truly lovely that the two of you are so enamored with each other... Might I request that you move to one of the more private areas if you wish to be quite so intimate? Some of the attendees are much too young for such things to be appropriate.
[ Both her tone and expression are entirely earnest. She really does mean it when she says it's lovely to see a couple so smitten with each other. But she also means it when she says it's inappropriate here.
Era offers a polite bow. ]
My apologies for disturbing your evening, sir.
no subject
Oh Lord of the Sea. If Namur were the type to think of a word like prudes he'd be thinking it a lot right now. Instead, he tastes that hesitance, and notes the way she only faltered once and then carried on with quiet confidence. Damn it that's adorable.
So he laughs, deep from his belly, then hunkers down like a cat on its haunches, elbows propped on his knees.]
Only if y' do us all a favor, sweetheart.
[He pauses a moment to make sure she's looking him in the eyes.]
Don't say that t' Rip.
[At which point he smiles, offering his hand. He did ask her to dance, after all.]
no subject
Most everyone in Eorzea is taller than her, and many are not that much shorter than the man before her, often with similar scowls or frowns etched on their faces. Men so often seem to enjoy trying to come across as manly and tough. Which may actually be fairly discomfiting to some other women where she comes from, but she's faced down literal gods all on her own. Tall men are nothing in comparison to Titan or Susano or Sephirot. ]
Rip is your partner?
[ She smiles in return, pleased that he doesn't seem to be offended by her request. Taking his hand (never has she seen it so dwarfed by another) Era starts trying to figure out how best to make this work with the drastic differences in their sizes. ]
The tallest person I've danced with has been a few ilms - inches - [ sometimes the common name for these measurements slip her mind. ] shy of seven feet... You must be near eight feet tall, give or take a few inches, no?
And might I ask for the name of my dance partner?

"Mister Fins!"
She wasn't very heavy so she probably wouldn't throw him off balance. Probably. Either way she wouldn't cling for long, dropping to the dance floor and smiling up at him. She was wearing the dress she had gotten for her 'sweet sixteen.'
"I didn't know you were going to be here!"
no subject
[She's got tentacles, it works, shut up. Namur rocks his shoulders to give her a bit of a ride before she drops back to the ground.]
Course I'mma be here. Why wouldn't I be?
[YEAH HE'S NOTICING THE DRESS. Again. If only her brain matched her body, cuz damn.]
Didja bring a date?
no subject
"I dunno. No one told me. I'm glad you're here though. You like parties."
Her brain did match her body when she was lucid. Until then she was stuck living in the moment and in a semi-dream exclusively. She was actually fairly focused right now though not entirely lucid.
"Heh. Nooo. Sis was busy and she came with Miss Bats. So Miss Roses brought me here but I'm not her date. That's okay though. Dating is a human thing." A pause, closing her left eye. "Though I suppose my sister is out on a date. I'm not sure if I should be proud or disappointed." A joke that made sense!
no subject
Who's Miss Roses? She hot?
[He winks cuz he's a jerk and he knows it.]
no subject
Actually, her third eye was open a small sliver. The positive energy of the prom was really starting to affect her. She was calmer and more cognitive instead of her usual loopy behavior.
"Hot? I'm not sure what your standards for beauty are but..." She pointed to Rose Tyler who was roaming around on one of her breaks. "I think her lover... Former lover?" A pause. "I'm not sure... Is supposed to be a super powerful entity or something. So be careful, okay?"

Rip might be a little bias considering there were only two men in her life that caught her eye like he did and he was obviously one of them. Needless to say, she was happy to be at this little party, even if it meant she was wearing a dress that was practically designed to keep his eyes on her.
That also meant, Rip had dragged him over for pictures at one point so they could have something to remember this evening by and maybe proof that yes, both of them looked good dressed up.
Beyond that, Rip was wandering in and out mingling with people and disappearing from time to time only to appear at his side again a little while later. What could she say? Rip always came back.
...And at least got carried off to the dance floor once or twice by a certain someone grabbing her from around the waist, laughing the entire way. Every time she danced with him, it wasn't hard to see just with the way they moved with each other that they were well acquainted with each other just by the teasing touches she gave him when she thought no one was paying attention. Or with how close they danced with one another. Rip really didn't care if people didn't approve of the obvious intimacy between them. He was her boyfriend. Anyone wanted to argue, she'd knock them out herself.]
no subject
Near to the end of the evening they can be found coming together once again for a dance. But though the tempo is upbeat, the slow intro put Namur in the mood for something slow and simple, little more than a long hug and a steady sway. So there he is, down on his knees and holding Rip close, dancing cheek to cheek. He hums happily, rubbing his gills against her soft skin.]
Been a damn good night, eh?
no subject
A very damn good night. I can’t remember zhe last time I had a night like zhis.
[She smiled as she rubbed her cheek against him and closed her eyes for a moment. He wasn't the only one humming, though... after a few minutes, Rip might just be softly singing along with the song.]
no subject
Oughta do this more. Sing, I mean. Bet y'd outdo almost everbody. Still think y' might wanna do some singin' on the side? Or's Jolly Eddy's 'nuff for y' right now?
no subject
I've been thinking about it. Even vith my vork at Jolly Eddy's, I zhink I could manage a little singing on zhe side...if I ever figure out how to go about doing zo.
[What could she say? Rip loved to sing just about as much as she loved hunting.]

VII - OTHER! :D
Eventually, she'd leave the dance floor and head over to get a glass of punch, leaving her on her own for a moment at the very least.]
no subject
Aw shit, sweetheart! Didn't see y' there! Here, lemme help y' find a towel.
[The dropped cup forgotten and left behind for someone else to clean up, Namur grabs her firmly by the wrist and drags her out into a hallway.]
Reckon 's 'bout time I have a chat with y' anyway. Seems we ain't been properly interduced, aye?
no subject
First things first, my name's not sweetheart, it's Jenny. Second, don't touch me unless you want to make one hell of a scene. Third, if you wanted a chat, all you had to do was ask. Now let go!
[That look on her face was not exactly thrilled with how he'd decided to try and go about this once she'd managed to recognize him, and she'd done that quickly. He wanted to talk, and had he just asked, she would have willingly gone somewhere to do so. As it was, the soldier in her was completely on edge now, and Jenny was trying her hardest to keep that side of her at bay. Something that was very difficult at the moment. Sure, they hadn't gotten off to a good start to begin with, but seriously? He had to take things this far?]
no subject
Run, an' y'll get a hell of a lot worse'n a touch on the wrist.
[But he lets her go.]
