I - SETUP (12:00pm-5:00pm)

For any and all who agreed to help with the decorations, this would be the time to gather at the Hotel. A large list of assignments will be posted on the wall near the entrance, with duties including but not limited to:

1. Setting Tables, including placement of centerpieces
2. Wall and ceiling decorations, involving a lot of gossamer drapery and lights
3. Preparing the buffet table, with a mixture of hot and cold foods, as well as a separate table at the end for delectable deserts
4. Getting all necessary equipment on stage for the Live Band to perform.  Sound Checks may occur throughout.
5. A side dressing room area set up exclusively for those who volunteered to take the time to get ready themselves, including special hair and makeup stations and a large rack to hang their dresses & shoes to change into later

II - HOTEL LOBBY (6:30pm onward)

Cozy and luxurious in its own right, those who arrive before Prom is scheduled to begin will be allowed to lounge in the Hotel Lobby for a spell. Meeting and greeting other early birds and partaking in a select few hors d'oeuvre made available while waiting for the doors to open

 

III. - PROM PHOTOS!

In the far corner of the lobby, a cute backdrop will be set up, ready for any and all couples/groups/brave souls going stag for the evening to take a memorable photograph! Selfies are welcome throughout, but for those desiring a more professional setup, Hikari Yagami will be on hand for the first and last hours of the night for "official" Prom Photos.

IV - EATING/DRINKING

  

With a "bar" consisting of 90% nonalcoholic beverages--the remaining ten percent reserved for of age chaperones--and a buffet table spanning the length of the side wall, there will be no shortage of food options that night!  Hot pasta dishes, cold sandwiches, fruits, vegetable platters, and a special end section devoted to some of the best sweets Genessia's bakeries have to offer!

Of course, what prom would be complete without the traditional Fruit Bowl Punch?  Better get a sip in early, though...because some traditions never die, and it's not like those in charge can keep an eye on that bowl the entire night, can they?

V. - DANCE FLOOR

With a live band (Thank you, Professor!) ready to rock, you'll soon be dancing the night away, under ethereal decorations that will really make you feel like you're dancing among the stars!

In between sets, there will be a DJ spinning a mixture of slow dances, crowd favorites, and songs that'll really get the party rockin' (LMFAO style).

 

VI. - CHAPERONES

 

Because somebody's got to make sure the kids behave.

Hopefully actual adults who can behave themselves.

[Prom was not something Winry had ever been to before. But she knew a friend was going and she knew that honestly, she needs to stop overworking because a few people she called friends were no longer here. She needed to do better like she said she was going to.

So the young woman without telling anyone had managed to buy herself a cute little basic number along with simple low heeled shoes and even managed to have her hair done up fancy. make up wise, she made sure to go with a simple eyeshadow and lip gloss that matched what she was wear but at the same time didn't stand out too much.]

II - Hotel Lobby
[Winry wandered the lobby, still very much unsure as to what to do. Maybe she should go and get something to eat? Maybe she should mingle, possibly make new friends. She could even just turn around and go home if she wanted to, but she knew that wasn't a good idea. So instead she chooses to wander around, looking over at people enjoying themselves and giving off a small smile as she did.

It was nice to see so many people happy.]

IV - Eating/Drinking
[The blond had managed to get herself some of the punch early on and was currently nursing it before taking a sip. She didn't know what to honestly expect really, but the flavours were admittedly rather nice. Not anything like she was expecting.

So taking another sip she started to look around at the variety of food, trying her best to figure out what the best thing to try first. When she wasn't sure she glanced over at the nearest person.]

V - Dance Floor
[Winry had decided that she would enjoy herself as much as she could, but dancing was not something she was comfortable with. She didn't even know where to begin with such a thing. So instead she decided to stick to the walls and instead watch the others and see if she can pick up anything.]

[Eliot sighs sadly. He doesn't even realize he's standing next to Winry: He's too busy angsting over his inability to eat.]

II | Lobby

[ Social events were always a little strange to attend to Sertoria. She's so used to being in the bakcground, even now, however she's getting adjusted to being more prevalent. Today, she's wearing a predominately white floor-length dress with a golden trim that wraps all around her. Her hair, normally left hanging freely, has been braided and the end is tied with a white ribbon thanks to Uai.

And, what's even more telling of the angel's ensemble is that most of her jewelry is absent from her person. However, what's present is her beloved's pin hanging by a simple gold chain around her neck, designed by Era herself. To complete her ensemble is a pair of small heels.

Since she was invited by Dove, she thought it would be nice to invite Angela as well as Lunafreya here too. For now, Sertoria's content to just observe others in the lobby, waving at those she recognizes and making smalltalk when needed. ]

IV | Eating/Drinking

[ Ever since Uai had jumpstarted her appetite that she hadn't anticipated needing in Genessia, food has been a more welcome thing instead of something completely foreign and unnecessary. She's curbed her insatiable hunger well by now thanks to storing reserves when they're needed, but it's always good to have more energy on hand just in case if it's necessary.

The drinks, however, is something that she's more curious about. She's only had water and smoothies, but she's curious about the fruit punch. It smells sweet, but she's heard about people potentially adding alcohol to it. Although she's sure her tolerance is much higher than a human's is and there's the question if she can get drunk. Still, though, she's not about to try it just because it's something new. ]

V | Dance Floor

[ Sertoria's not the dancing type, however if asked, she'll happily oblige. She's content to watch others dance for now, smiling at the others. The angel is happy to see others having a good time, honestly, and that's more than enough for her. ]

A. Hotel Lobby

[Uai is here to fake his social life. If something goes wrong later with his awful scheming, he wants to have 'friends' to fall back to... That, and some people who have actually wormed into his heart are here. He needs to make sure they're happy, and break the arms of their dates if something goes wrong. No pressure.

That said, his attire, reflects his omniversal life. At least he isn't wearing his library attendant outfit? If he knows your muse, even if only vaguely, he'll throw a smile and a wave. If not... 100% scowls.]

B. Outside the Building, Actually

[About mid-evening, Uai escapes the building with a glass of punch. He can be found lingering outside and enjoying the real stars. Not because he dislikes the decorations: It's the opposite. Feeling like he's "in space" again is making his really homesick. If anyone approaches him suddenly, Uai will drop his punch all over his white suit like an idiot.]

Au-- Sorry! I mean-- [Wait, he's the one who got splashed. By himself.] ... Sorry. I'm in your way.

[In a blink, the stain is magically gone.]

[Azure inquired before looking equally startled over him being startled, going so far as to jump a little in response. Thankfully she didn't spill her drink on herself.]

Ah! I'm sorry to have scared you, I didn't mean to do that.

[She then blinked, staring quizzically at his suit. Didn't she just...watch him spill punch all over it? Maybe her mind was playing tricks on her...]

[Eliot doesn't want to die by Rip, so is wearing a moderately appropriate suit. May or may not have the cape. V-Vampires wear capes, right?? He's doing this right, isn't he???]

A. Hotel Lobby

[Eliot won't arrive until after sun down. As much as he wanted to bring his new parasol, he doesn't know where to put it... So nope. Had to wait until the sun set. This new "sun hurts" thing is really annoying. It's been hampering his social life too, so if he sees anyone he knows he will be... Kinda annoying.

B. Food/Drinks

[Eliot is staring at the table enviously. Ever since his blood levels became 'healthy,' he's been unable to eat. Fruit and animal meat used to be fine, but now everything tastes like ash. It just makes him sick...

Still. He's looking at the chocolate covered strawberries with the worst sad puppy face.]

C. Dance Floor

[If he's good for anything, it's being a gentleman. When a slower song comes on, one that you can do formal dancing to, he'll offer a hand to any onlooking wallflowers. Female, male, non-binary... Anyone who looks like they want a dance partner.

Though he is clearly nervous as well, Eliot is trying to be Ophelia in her absence.]

[A quiet sigh escapes Augustine once he sees the boy's sad expression. He's dressed in one of his signature red suits. By now, everyone is quite aware of the dhampir's fondness for this particular fashion. While this lovely ensemble has a slightly modern twist, Augustine still looks like he stepped out the 18th century.]

You mustn't wear such a grave face. [He lightly scolds while gently patting the youth's shoulder.] You'll never find a date.

[He smiles faintly.]

Hotel Lobby
[Chiaki fidgeted with her dress having only got it last minute she wasn't sure how she really felt about wearing it. She even managed to do something basic with her hair and make up. Even her heels were small heels, but they matched with the dress regardless. After all, she couldn't walk in anything higher.

Chiaki had a reason for coming to the prom when she had decided not to before and that was just to check on a friend who said he was going. She was curious about who he was going with and seeing if he was making friends.

So she was keeping her distance, sitting down in a chair with a drink with a small plate of food and at one point when she wasn't sure where the said friend was she was focused on a handheld video game.]

Dance Floor
[When she was done spying, for the most part, Chiaki looked over at the dance floor, a small smile spreading across her lips. It was something she wanted to do and in all honesty, she was going to dance regardless.

As she made her way to the dance floor she looked around to see who might be a wallflower. If she spots one she will make her way over.]

[When Satou spots Chiaki, she literally hops with excitement. She was hoping to see her here, so this is a true treat!]

[She giggles, walking over with a smile on her face.]

Satori makes her debut sporting a rather fanciful finery in the company of Remilia Scarlet, the pair of them being fashionably early rather than fashionably late.

"...If we're this early, we might as well set a little wager, Remi. I'd like you to guess what sorts of odd couples might form during this party. It might be a pain to read so many minds at once, but I'll not to cheat."

She looks to Remi, holding her girlfriend's hand for this long at her insistence - something she didn't mind obliging for her vampiric partner, as her third eye quietly nestles up against the winged girl's elbow.

"Thankfully, nobody has to guess with us about, do they?"

[First reply locked to Remi. Afterwards, Satorin will be mingling around the pre-party area, such as she can. Go bother these dorks, if you want.]

It seems that Satori has expressed some interesting in taking a picture with Remilia at the photo area. Strange, that this place has made her so outgoing. Maybe it's because it's with Remi, but she feels at ease. That, and a thoroughly internally-flustered Satori needs to start building some more happy memories with her girlfriend.

[Go ahead and mess with them, people! They're asking for it.]

Satori's chosen to break off from Remilia for the moment (until the dancing starts up, anyway) to gather some snacks and something to drink. Feel free to approach her and strike up a conversation, physical or mental as the case may be...

Satori plans to take the first dance with Remilia, assuming the vampire hasn't changed her mind. Oddly enough, such an event has made her swell with pride - that, and she's oddly clingy for such a self-professed social outcast. It must be the punch or the party or simply the pride of just being here with someone she cares about.

"The thoughts here are oppressively positive. I never thought I'd enjoy such a place, but you're making this rather tolerable." Nevermind that she couldn't have got used to being with so many people if not for Koishi and the network of friends and acquaintances she built up along the way.

"If you see Ted, I think you ought to ask him. Not to be serious about it. Just to see his reaction. I'm sure his response will be uniquely humorous, either way.

That said, she can't help but sneak in a barb or two, regardless.

And naturally Remilia is wearing her own dress she bought for the occasion... and of course is quite content in the company of her girlfriend.

"Oh? I'll accept your challenge, Satori... And I bet I'll win."

First to enter, last to leave, perhaps? Remilia plans on staying as long as she can.

"We do make it quite obvious, ma belle," she replies, stealing a small kiss.

It was only right in her mind that she and Satori take their first dance together, more than happy to let Satori be as clingy as she likes.

"No one from back home would believe you can be sociable. All it took is a pretty, charismatic vampire like myself." Satori coming out of he shell in the first place helped, of course.

II.

[ Soldier: 76 - maybe known to one or two as Jack Morrison - was dragged to the event by insistence of Dr. Angela Ziegler. He shared his displeasure of the idea, but, ultimately caved. Either due to the years of manners trained into his head, or the fact she currently gave him a roof over his head. It led the former Strike Commander to show up dressed for the occasion. Even if his mask was still on his face.

He wasn't sure he was ready to face any other possible lurking Overwatch agents when he was supposed to be a dead man. Hell, running into Angela had been chance. A chance he tried pushing away, and it didn't take. For now, he was waiting for the prom to open and stood in the back, against the wall, with his arms crossed.

He hadn't been to a prom since he was in high school. ]

VII.

[ Doors opened, kids mingled, and Soldier: 76 managed to find his way from some of the more crowded parts of the venue. He was doing his best to stick to the edges of the party. Trying to make sure to keep to himself. There wasn't much point to drink or eat with this visor and mask on. He didn't intend to end up being the laughing stock of the damn venue in the first place.

Someone needed to remind him to ask Angela why the hell she was going to a prom anyways. ]

VII

[ It's as Era is taking a quick breather that she notices an older man she recognizes (a rarity for her at this point), though it doesn't surprise her that she remembers his face - mostly because his face has always been covered by an odd mask whenever she's seen him thus far. It's something distinctive. Easy to remember.

Being surrounded by so many children is also odd to Era. It's not as though they're uncommon in Eorzea, but you just don't see so many gathered in one place very often unless it's an orphanage. That is just one more thing that makes the adults stand out to her. Especially adults very clearly above middle-age.

She, however, blends in with the children despite her age. Or at least seems to appear more like a teenager than a grown woman given her slight size. It's been an odd mixture of a relief (Era doesn't like standing out, which has been hard considering she is not a human) and an annoyance (she is nearer to thirty than twenty and would like to be treated as such).

Era considers whether or not to bother him. She's almost done eating another few sandwiches, washing it down with a sweet Cordial she has on her, and has some more time before she has another turn on stage with her violin. So it wouldn't put her out any to squeeze a few more dances in before then. Decision made, Era wanders over to the older man with the stride of one quite clearly accustomed to combat no matter how relaxed she appears. Her tail sways gentle behind her in time with the beat of the music.

She offers a hand out to him with a pleasant smile. ]

Would you care to dance, sir?

[Rapunzel felt like she had done her most impressive work yet. She had handmade her own dress and in keeping with the theme of the prom in general, Rapunzel had opted to create a long dark blue dress, sleeves using lace and patterned with stars and moons that were clear to the eye but if you got close enough would notice. The dress itself along the bottom of the dress had stars, which while looked random and out of place were in fact star constellations that she knew of from back home.

Even her hair was keeping with the theme, having taken hours to even put up in the first place. But she had managed to get it up into a brain with little star pins that she used in order to keep it up. On top of her head rest a headpiece with a moon that rested on the side of her head.

All in all, the young woman was proud of what she had created.]

[Rapunzel was here, there and everywhere. She was making the most of the prom and was going to greet people she saw by themselves. After all, no one should really be alone during this, right?]

[rapunzel said happily as she was going for her third little cake. She didn't know how they managed to make them so tiny, but they were utterly fascinating regardless.]

Have you tried these yet? You have to try them? [She turned toward the first person she said, a wide but sweet smile on her face.]

Dance Floor
[Rapunzel can be seen dancing on the dance floor having the time of her life. If she could she will walk on over toward anyone who wasn't dancing, while still moving to the beat herself.]

I thought part of the point of a prom was to dance. So how come you aren't?

[Eliot turns to the familiar voice, already braced for a nice dress. Everyone has dressed up so fancily, and he has no doubt that Rapunzel has done the same. What he wasn't expecting was for her to have put so much effort into the dress. And her hair too!

It takes him a moment to process her design before he laughs.]

You look amazing! Are those constellations on your dress?

[ There's really only one reason Marisa is here... the free food. And how like her to simply crash a party because of it.

She's not even bothered to change her outfit. Also... girls of a similar age (late teens/early twenties) may get flirted with if clearly here on their own. ]

II. Hotel Lobby/Entrance

[It's a surprise, unexpected but not unwanted, as Enis walks through the main entrance of the hall. There is an excited buzz of voices humming through the air as people slowly filter towards the main ballroom. Enis takes some time to look around, her vibrant blue eyes scanning the walls, ceilings and exits as if she's casing the place.

It's beautiful and not just because of the way it's been decorated. There is something more to it, something that Enis doesn't completely understand.

She's wearing a beautiful dark violet dress as well as a pair of black heels that add another three inches to her usually short height. Her features were tastefully accented with makeup while her short black hair has been pinned behind one ear, a small crystal barrette holding it in place. Enis doesn't dress up often but she appears to be at ease as she takes a look around and looks for the few people she might knows who are in attendance.]

IV. Concessions

[The food is the reason to go to any party. It's free and available through the duration of the event for the guests to eat their fill.

Enis makes a point to try the sweeter treats first but is quick to give them up for the more savory dishes provided. She's never been a fan of sweets and that seems to continue to be the case. Once she has a small plate, she finds a place to sit and eat. Her bites are small and experimental before popping the rest of the treat into her mouth. If she doesn't like it, she isn't going to finish it.

When her plate is empty or nearly so, she returns to the food tables for another, trying new things and getting herself a drink as she returns to her small out of the way table.]

V. Dance

[It isn't that Enis doesn't want to dance but doesn't know how. She takes a comfortable position against the side of the wall as she watches people enjoy the fast pace music. She likes the songs and begins thinking of ways that she could change, alter or improve them. Improving a song is a relative thought and greatly matters on opinion but it slips into Enis's thoughts as she smiles and listens to the generally fast pace beats.

So lost in her thoughts and the music, she might not notice anyone's approach until they begin talking to her.]

[Unfortunate for Enis, Eliot is one of the people to spot her wallflower behavior. He's been polite and played the role of 'gentleman' to the others he approaches, but Enis gets his full personality. Big smile included.]

There you are. I've been looking for you~ [He settles to a stop in front of her.] What are you doing here against the wall?

Prom is lame. What a lame idea. But then her roommate asked if she wanted to go, strictly ironically, of course. So here Faye is, wearing a gorgeous flowing red gown: there is plenty of cleavage on show, and a classy slit in the skirt that stretches all the way to her upper thigh - she wasn't voted sexiest woman for no reason.

Drinking

At the punch bowl, Faye looks rather disgruntled to hear that the thing is made of fruit juice, and that most of the drinks are alcohol free. She huffs a bit and rolls her eyes, "Surely a girl can find something decent to drink round here..."

Dancefloor. Ish.

This is exactly why Faye didn't want to come - lots of happy people dancing, lots of couples too, being romantic and just...eww. With all these youngsters around, it's all that sick kind of puppy love too. So Faye lingers on the outskirts of the dancefloor, a lady all alone with no one to dance with.

Misc

Faye is drifting around the prom, and probably looking for somewhere to have a cigarette, so she might appear a little lost. Feel free to bother her anyhow, anywhere.

[Ted spies with his pure-as-the-driven-snow eyes one Ms. Valentine! Ironical name, given her sour disposition on all things romantic. Didn't she vote him in as Most Annoying? Well, he'll either improve her night or prove her right. Something smiley this way comes.]

[ It is quite obvious that Lunafreya is part of the 'all ages welcome' crowd to the prom. The experience is... new, to say the least. The Oracle of Eos has been to many political dinners, parties, and events. She has gone from place to place on her star, healing and learning of the people. However, she has never, not once, been to prom. It is a formal dress event, but without the politics or the dangers of world peace on the table. It is almost... quaint. In a way.

She stands in the lobby, dressed in blue and white with a possibly unfamiliar crest on her dress. Her hair is done up in its normal fashion, but for once, she seems to look far more like the princess she once was. ]

VII.

[ Lunafreya is out and about at the event. Your pick of what they do! ]

[ Era has seen a vast array of different dress styles and colours, but none stood out to her quite as much as the one a young blonde woman was wearing. It's white and shades of blues. The colours Era was to use for her wedding. But beyond that it holds no resemblance to her wedding dress.

Realizing that perhaps she has been staring a bit longer than is polite, Era chooses to greet the woman in an effort to cover any social faux pas she may have made. It doesn't take long for Era to be within a polite distance of the stranger, and soon enough she's offering a small bow in greeting. ]

Captain Jack: OTA

I. Lobby

Jack walked around the lobby hands in the pockets of his tux a bright smile on his face. This sort of event allowed to him to be in his element as he greeted people and introduced himself.

II. Dancing and Music

Jack is always willing to dance and when he isn't partnered up he is going looking for for someone to dance with. Given one of his lovers is playing in the band he could also be convinced to sing if a certain person gave him a little push.

III. Eating and Drinking

Jack takes a break from working the room to grab a drink and a snack still smiling as he eats and sips. He's completely relaxed and at ease and would be more than willing for a chat if someone wanted to.

Rose doesn't even try to hide that she's watching Jack from on stage, and while she's on break and the DJ is playing, she doesn't even give him warning (does she ever?!) just slips her arms around his neck and sways in time with the music, beaming up at him, brown eyes glowing.

"Hey there, stranger."

Prom? Well, Noah's only here out of respect for the girl who talked to her those few months ago. After learning of both Mimi's disappearance and the fact she was behind this, Noah figured it was best to make it up to her--quietly--by attending this. She didn't expect to go very far; someone as ethereal and unstable as she was didn't make for good company at parties.

...besides, the closest she had to high school was the mess of magic experiments she did with Ashuri and others back in the day. So really, what's prom?

[Hotel Lobby]

When Noah first appears, she... simply does so, appearing in an open space with a quick, beam-like burst. Perhaps a little overdressed in a ball gown (but blue, and with bunny patterns), Noah had decided to take what worked last time and stick with it. Hollow eyes scan her surroundings, though she is initially intense, as if expecting enemy attack instead of... what's happening.

Maybe as a result of that, she looks a little disappointed.

"I hyped myself over nothing." Noah murmurs.

[Food and Drink]

"No carrot juice? Bah." That's about all Noah would concern herself with drink wise. Though given her spirit form, she doesn't really need to eat, the small baby carrots nevertheless are pleasant enough to chew on, taste or not. She considers swiping all of the carrots given that no one else is eating them. Why not? She's not going to let these admittedly just adequate carrots go to waste!

[Uai is similarly disappointed by the prom, but glad to see Noah. He hasn't spoken to her since she beat some flexibility into his logic.]

At least there's free food.

[When Rip finally arrived, she was happily on a certain someone's arm. Of course, there was really only two reason she came to this thing. To show off and have fun.]

[Out on the dance floor, Rip's happily moving to the music and not even caring if some of her moves might be a little risque. She's just out to have a little fun with whoever feels like dancing with her!]

[When Rip's not dancing, she can be found moving through the crowds and mingling. Obviously she's in a genuinely happy mood tonight so she keeps the conversations pleasant for the most part. Though, there might be a few people she's searching for in the crowd....]

[Augustine let's out a satisfied sigh once he tries the fruit punch. It's not a glass of wine but it will do. Although, just what is he doing here again? He had no plans on attending this silly prom and yet here he is. While the dhampir was tempted to ignore the invite, the idea of catching a glimpse of his dear huntress in a gown tempted him too much.

Dressed to the nines and tens in this lovely baroque ensemble, Augustine makes a rather statuesque silhouette. His hair is combed nicely and tied with a dapper scarlet ribbon to match his attire. He decided to wear his gold cuff links for this delightful prom. The dhampir likes charming little accessories like that. He's a bit obsessed with them.

Nevertheless, he eventually spots Rip mingling within the crowd and quickly makes his way towards her.]

My, my, my! [Augustine gives her an appreciative glance.] You certainly look marvelous tonight.

(I) HOTEL LOBBY

( prom isn't actually a thing back in japan so ren has been looking forward to participating in something new, and as any well-mannered young man would, he shows up (more or less) on time and starts surveying the area - that part might have more to do with intel and infiltration habits than any sort of manners, though.

his initial plan had been to dress in something plain and functional, but seeing as how he has a date showing up (sort of? not really. at least, let's not think about it like that.), ann and shiho helped him pick out something a little trendier than he would have on his own.

rather than outright mingling, ren will be found observing people and occasionally fiddling with the ties on his wrists; if you happen to catch him while he's observing you, he'll play it off with a casual smile, expecting an approach. )

(II) EATING/DRINKING

( the bar is a verified smorgasbord of food he's never tried, so though ren doesn't usually eat all that much, he's apparently taking this as a challenge to try anything he hasn't. which means his plate is piled high when he finally makes it to the dessert portion. there's a tray with one (1) sweet-tart left and his tongue pokes out slightly from the corner of his mouth when he plucks it free.

ah, but the person beside him just dropped the second-to-last tart they grabbed right before him! ren glances at the poor confection, now lost to clutches of a dirty floor and hungry tablecloth, and then he wastes exactly zero seconds before offering up his own in replacement. )

Here. ( he holds it out for you to take, and if you refuse, he'll playfully insist ) You sure? You'd be saving me and everyone else some trouble, no one wants to see me pop out of this vest.

( the joke here being he's literally a twig and not popping out of anything please just take the treat so he can stop being a fool. )

(III) DANCE FLOOR

( typically, ren makes it a point not to stand out. he's quiet and mild-mannered where he needs to be but one place he doesn't need to be any of that is on! the! dance floor! there might even be a small group forming around him as he busts out these hot moves, but he can be pulled away for some one-on-one dancing (or, if you're brave enough, a dance battle ₍₍ ◝( ･’ω’･ )◟ ⁾⁾ ) )

(IV) DATE TO DIE FOR ❀ (CLOSED TO AKECHI)

( ren doesn't want to look like he's waiting even though he definitely, most definitely is doing just that. you can only spend so long fiddling with your phone, glancing up from it before it's apparent you're not interested in the phone at all. akechi said he'd come but ren isn't so sure, is feeling about as confident about the whole thing as he did when he invited him - aka not in the least. it's a stupid situation but there's a lot riding on it, in a way, the potential to set a tone for all future interactions and he doesn't know how ready he is for that either.

honestly, if akechi just doesn't show up. it might be easier.

ren exhales and moves to sit on the edge of the fountain, tucking the tail of his shirt under his thighs. he'll give it ten more minutes before dismissing the whole thing - he got here a little early anyway. until then, he'll continue pretending his phone has every bit of his attention. )

(V) SAY YES TO THE DRESS 👗

( at some point in the night, ren stumbles across a girl nearly in tears. in true ren fashion, he can't ignore anything or anyone in distress, but he is still a little taken aback when he asks what's wrong and she blurts that her dress is ruined. he looks over her, because uh, her dress looks fine to him, but the girl makes a very emphasized POINT towards a small stain near her waist, where something...apparently spilled? he'll have to take her word for it. the fabric is dark enough that he doesn't think it's that big of a deal, but she doesn't seem to agree.

what this eventually culminates into ten minutes later is the both of them walking out of a nearby restroom, the girl swapped into ren's very fashionable and just-androgynous-enough outfit to pass as if it had been hers from the start. while ren has changed into her horrendously stained dress.

really, it's nothing, this is silly. but the girl is happier now, showering him with thanks, and that's what's important. he waits a little with her until her own date arrives, then goes back to the event like nothing's changed.

now ren is walking around like he's late for ru paul's drag race and not seeming to give four fucks about it. won't even ad(dress) it unless you bring it up, because boys can be pretty too okay just don't mention the stain. )

[While she hasn't seen the whole thing, it's safe to say Junko's been aware of the situation from the very start. Not least because it had been her exceptional sense of timing and moving at the worst possible time that had seen some poor individual probably making the best of being here solo colliding with the girl in question and causing the ensuing meltdown over a barely anything stain.

She's not overly interested in the aftermath, save that she knows she's seen that guy before somewhere. She couldn't possibly forget someone who's managed to make her do such a thorough 180 on her first impression, after all.

And lo and behold he's still keeping her guessing because she certainly hadn't expected that to be the solution. And so she walks over, sly grin in place as she draws close enough to pass comment.]

Oooh. Did you get into her underwear too, or is that what you're hoping for when it's time to switch back?

A little bit of everything.

[Terra arrives dressed in a short red dress with matching gloves that run up the length of her arms. Red ribbons accent the fabric as well as added waves of pink material around her thin waist. Her shoes are the same red as her dress with a heel that lifts her an extra three inches from the ground. Her shoulders are bare and a red gem-ed necklace circles her throat. A red ribbon pulls back bits of her hair, only allowing thin wisps of blond curls frame the angelic curve of her cheeks. A touch of pink lipstick colors her lips, tying her outfit together.

Around her wrist is a red rose, accented with buds of pink and white. Her date, Sidon, is wearing a similar red rose on the fabric of his navy blue vest. They walk in together, not at all subtly since Sidon is so tall, and slowly begin to scope out the dance and it's many attractions.

Terra spends most of the night with Sidon but there are a few people who she hopes to run into. Upon seeing someone she knows, she excuses herself from Sidon's side and steps over to say hello. Her heels click on the polished floor while a warm smile pulled across her features.

She's been looking forward to the dance for over a month and she's excited to finally be here. Terra wants to try all the food as well as dance. She doesn't know how to dance in a formal sense but she's willing to try anyway. There is at least one person she's promised a dance too but she wouldn't mind dancing with others as well, as long as they're okay with a clumsy partner.

At different points of the night Terra can be found wandering around on her own. In a few instances she's looking for something but towards the beginning of the night she finds herself lost and turned around. It's lucky for her that Sidon is so tall.

Closed to Sidon - Part 1

[Terra takes a small cake that's been decorated in pink and white frosting and holds it up to Sidon's mouth. It's bite size and very cute, somehow matching the same pink hue as Terra's lipstick. She doesn't need to feed him but she's having fun and he hasn't told her to stop.]

Then we can try the chocolate ones.

[There are other foods laid out across the tables but Terra has a weakness for sweets. She can't try that many without feeling unwell and so, Sidon has become her official taste tester.]

II - Hotel Lobby
[Natsuki never really did stuff like this; Not that she ever really had a chance to. Back home, she always had to worry about what her dad thought or what he was doing. Not to mention she did have any nice dresses because she didn't have the money and there was no way her dad would get her what she wanted. Getting a job wasn't in the cards during school time back home either. So this was definitely a new experience. If Sayori didn't drag her here, she probably wouldn't have come.

She didn't do anything particularly special with her hair, besides leaving it down for a change. It took a while, but she managed to save enough money for her dress and found a pair of pink heels to go with the dress. When she's not clinging onto Sayori, you can find her aimlessly wandering.]

IV/V - Eating/Dancing
[The food area was going to be her favorite place for whenever she wasn't with Sayori. It was a good place to wall flower, but she also liked the treats that were there. It was also a good time for her to avoid dancing. She had no idea how to dance and seeing so many really good dancers on the floor was intimidating. Feel free to pull her away from her wall.]

It's....really a miracle that she's made it here at all, really.

While she had made a slight effort to find a gown for the evening, Theodora is quiet and simply there to watch those of Genessia (particularly the youngest of the crowd) enjoy themselves in the glittering evening. She seems to wander aimlessly around the edges of the event, wistfully watching the dancers spin (or in some fond instances, just...move awkwardly about) across the dance floor with their partners.

It's bittersweet, watching the couples together and knowing she once had the same, but she refuses to dwell on it more than she must. She's just here to witness true happiness and life one last time before she disappears entirely to the mountains and forgets it was something she once had.

Should anyone see her, they'll certainly notice she looks much more frail than the other women about, but they're also likely to notice the way her dress seems to slowly ripple with the breeze.... except...there shouldn't be a breeze. But there is one??? At least around her, anyway.

[ he showed up looking like some sort of eleven royal. hair done and choosing to be comfortable and pretty. he doesn't remember attending balls but he's quite sure he got enough of an idea of how little he was enjoying them out of zelda. stiff attire and watching for any threat. constantly. he's still armed, of course. there's a sword in his back but hey it matches his dress this time. forget protocol. he's doing what he wants.

he'll help set up the food and the lighting silently, not getting in anyone's way. though those lights or decorations that need to be strung up high have him throwing a hand up to graciously volunteer. by literally scaling the walls. this looks really dangerous but it's fine. he got it.

when guests start arriving, he can still be found up there - dangling from the ceiling and carefully fixing one of those decorative orbs on the wire that came loose. perfection must be achieved. ]

ii. eating & drinking.

[ link had volunteered himself to take care of the culinary needs of the prom itself. though with the duties of running it passing between people, he hadn't really had it in him to overrule anyone that got recruited in to help with that, never exactly the type to speak up. still. half of that table might still be his own work, especially things that might count as actual dinner. like meat skewers or seafood or unique greens to throw on your plate. a nice heart soup that for some reason feels completely revitalizing and got rid of that bruise you had? suddenly, you feel like you could take like six punches to the face and live.

link can be found there the most, either stuffing his face or on the serving end of the table. he doesn't say a word but his gesturing make it clear the veggies come highly recommended if you look tired to him. he'll look enthusiastic if any compliment is paid towards anything he added there. ]

iii. dance floor and mingling.

[ this one is clearly shy. a little... over anxious by the amount of people here. ducking his head at anyone that spares him too long a look and standing like he's at attendance if anyone isn't talking to him. still, there's a bunch of energy there he's too nervous to throw himself in with. he can be found bouncing on his feet or rocking back and forth to any music playing off to the side. humming loudly along if a tune ever repeats enough for him to catch what it is. smiling excitedly at the variety of outfits passing by.

just trying to find a way to butt in there and then backing up nervously. okay. now? no... ]

( did somebody order two high-femme boys interacting because that's definitely the impending Mood as ren approaches this quietly excited little wallflower. he (at least, ren thinks it's a he? it's probably best not to make any assumptions though, especially not coming from him) has that belly-dancer aesthetic down pat, which makes ren wonder why he wouldn't be out on the floor already doing exactly that, but he's happy to hold out a hand. ) If you're trying to find a way in, I could make a path for you. ( infiltration is his specialty. instead of evacuate the dance floor, it's operation infiltrate the dance floor. actually, upon closer inspection, ren realizes the other looks vaguely familiar. ) Hey... ( it takes him a second to place it, a squint and a touch to this chin. but then, he smiles and flips his skirt to the side so he can lean down a little closer - easier to hear him over the music ) you were behind the food bar earlier, right?

[If there was anyone that was extremely happy to be a part of something like this, it was Penny. Sporting a forest green and black dress that started at her shoulders and ran all the way to the floor in a flowy skirt, she both felt completely out of her element, and yet as determined as could be to have a good time. This time there were no bodyguards, or anyone to stop her from mingling with people. Granted, that had been the case for the entire three months she'd been here, but it still felt unfamiliar due to the event itself.

And of course, the thing that made her even happier was that she was attending prom with Ruby, after a last-minute shuffle to get their matching dresses in order. She was going to make this the most fun night ever, for both of them (and everyone else, if she could help others be cheerful tonight!)

She can't help commenting on peoples' attire, and greeting anyone and everyone that crossed her path with a cheery smile and a compliment.]

[She totally knows how to dance. A little. Well, okay, definitely just a little. But she wasn't going to deny any dance requests, even going so far as to request dances from people that she knows!

Just don't expect her to go out and try breakdancing or anything by herself. She's not doing that.]

[About the best thing Ruby has for handling this environment, it's Penny being there with her. Ruby's dress was red-centric, this time, but ran to the same length as Penny's - harder to move around in, yes, but it also meant she could wear flats and no one would complain. That was nice. Penny was also nice. Very nice.] Wow... So much has happened, but... It's nice to just be. Here.

[Her first month in this place was strange - both frightening and, at the same time, liberating. A world where only a few people knew her by her name, and a fair amount of them were those she considered friends, or acquaintances. It still took a while for her to get used to everything, but moving in with Ann and Ren helped to alleviate that.

Shiho's decision to go with friends to the prom was an obvious choice for her. One of the things she took the opportunity to do here, in Genessia, was trying to be more independent -- but not stray too far from those she trusted. To feel like she could stand up for herself while feeling the strength her friends gave her just by being there with her.

The dress she chose was simple, but she liked it. White was a common color, but she didn't care - the important part was that it was the color she chose.

Walking into the hotel, she wasted no time trying to find her friends - but she stopped to greet others that she met along the way. She was happy to be here, among friends, acquaintances and even strangers. It felt to her that she was at least somewhat independent, even though she missed home.]

[Partway into the prom, she decides to stop by the food table, sampling some of the selections in very small portions. She's more than happy to converse with people as she does so, even commenting on how good everything tastes, but someone may wish to stop her from trying the punch, just in case something bad has happened to it.

She's not quite confident enough to ask others to dance yet, but she's also hoping that someone will ask her to. It's a staple of events like this, isn't it?]

( don't you worry shiho, because ren is in direct line of sight to catch you picking up that drink ladle and he may have heard a group of hooligans (not his group of hooligans) giggling earlier about putting something in the punch. ) Ah - Suzui-san, wait! ( justice is swift. and so is ren. who crosses the room in what seems like one feline-leap so he can snatch the ladle from her fingers - without spilling a drop of course, because he's not ryuji. he laughs, just a bit nervously, not wanting to worry her by admitting that there could be alcohol, or something worse, in there, so he plays it off. ) Aha, sorry, I just - been waiting all night to try this...punch. ( why is it called that anyway? it's juice, not a fist. uh, regardless, he's just gonna bite the bullet and quickly drink his own cup here, to make sure it's safe. and once he has, he follows up his theatrics with a very neutral: ) Great punch. Delicious. ( thanks ren. with no toxins detected, he carefully pours her a cup as a makeshift apology for interrupting her, handing it over with a small smile. ) You look happy, Suzui-san. ( mm, maybe happy isn't the right word. comfortable? content? he just means he's glad to see her trying to have some fun. she's been through a lot - kamoshida, her recovery, and now being dragged here - no one would blame her for wanting to stay home, but she is trying her best to adjust to things and he thinks it's admirable. ) Are you having a good time?

[Namur has been counting down the days to this dance. Sure, having to wear a suit takes him out of his element and yeah it's kind of nerve-wracking to try and socialize when everyone is wearing something delicate and easily ruined. But people dress up and try to look their best, and in a lot of cases wind up finding odd little bursts of confidence, and he loves that. He loves seeing all the girls in their dresses too- though one in particular really does keep catching his eye amidst all the rest. And he gets to be the one she walks in with.

Shit, life is good.]

III - Pictures

[Namur's not opposed. He does reckon he has a rather charming smile, if you can get past all the teeth. Making memories with friends is also important. So what the hell? Why not?

He'll be more than happy to snap pics for others, too, provided he can figure out how to make the camera work. He's grown accustomed to technology that isn't more of a pet than a machine, but that doesn't mean he's very good with it.]

IV - Eating and Drinking

[Namur's not super into the food, but he came to dance- and that means he needs to make sure he drinks a lot, too. Is he gonna be that guy, the one that spikes the punch? He could be. Or maybe he's being responsible tonight and just drinking a lot of water. It may depend on who he meets near the punch bowl...]

V - DANCING

[Hell yes, this is what he's here for. Others are welcome to ask him to dance if they're feeling brave, or maybe he'll ask them if he notices they're just hanging out on the fringes, looking like they want to dive but might be afraid of the sharks. Or maybe someone just wants to step back and watch him tear it up whenever a fitting song comes along. It's all good.]

[He's making sure to grab Rip to dance with him for several songs, too, even if it means literally grabbing her by the waist and carrying her away.

[NOT TONIGHT SUCKAS. But maybe he and Rip have gotten a little too saucy for the smolts in the crowd- they do have a tendency to egg each other on and go way over the top. Someone probably ought to get up the guts to say something about it. Or maybe someone has a problem and, by dint of being eight feet tall, Namur somehow comes off as a responsible adult that could be mistaken as a chaperone. Well, whatever. He can do their jobs, too. He's a badass like that.]

*Faye is lurking around, feeling the lameness of this all, when she spies Namur. She smirks and sidles on up to him, looking rather amused*

So did they pick the biggest baddest chaperone, or are you here for the high school girls?

Technically, Prompto was working. Events like this meant candid photos, which his boss liked and they might be able to sell some at a later date. He hadn't gone to his prom,mostly because he was too shy to ask someone to go with him, and too shy to go alone.

This event meant he was dressed in a smart, black suit, with a black tie just because it was such a formal occasion.

However, he had a camera bag slung over his shoulder, and a camera in hand taking candid shots of anything that looked good.

That didn't mean he couldn't be convinced to dance, besides even photographers needed to take a break.

Belle was dressed in a beautiful gown for the event despite arriving to the ball alone. She was a little disheartened but determined to have a lovely evening. In her attempts to run into someone she knows she spots Prompto amidst the crowd. She hadn't known he was going to be here, he hadn't mentioned it. She felt suddenly uncomfortable and tried to think of the best way to approach him. He was working, maybe later... She watched as Prompto was dragged onto the dance floor by someone else and her heart felt a little heavy. Was it her or something she had done? Belle caught Prompto the next time that he was alone. Her teeth worried nervously at her lower lip as she forced her lips into a smile. It wasn't anything like her usual smiles but she was trying. "Prompto." Her voice sounded calm at least. "I didn't think you'd be here. That is, you hadn't mentioned it. I thought-" Belle wasn't sure what she was saying and she paused, looking away. Maybe she shouldn't have come tonight?

[Belle arrives on her own and wanders around the dance. She's trying to have fun but it's a lot less fun when she's thinking about the person that she wishes she'd come with. After the surprise of spotting Prompto, Belle finds a seat out of the way to sit and think. She has no idea how she's feeling or what to do. She's dressed in a lovely gown. It's mostly white with pink and green butterflies adorning the fabric. Her hair has been styled and pulled back while a simple silver chain circles her throat. She looks lovely and sad. Belle tries to get her spirits up but she isn't feeling inspired. Maybe coming tonight had been a mistake...]

[Dove has finally decided to take a break from all of the dancing, though she feels the laughter might never leave her. She had expected for this to be fun, but she certainly hadn't thought a true prom would be this exciting.

With laughter in her smile, and her steps light as a feather, she makes her way to the refreshment table... but pauses when she feels the heavier emotion coming from one of the tables nearby. She takes a moment to look and narrow in the emotion until she's sure she's found the source... then makes her way over to the lovely young woman with an extra drink in hand.]

I love your gown! [is her greeting, as well as a gentle offering of the drink she's brought with her. She can't leave a fellow woman to sit in sadness all night!]
